JAMMU, Apr 1: The action-packed drama was re-enacted in State Legislative Assembly today when a member of House was marshaled out after he tried to disrupt the proceedings of the House demanding introduction of controversial inter-district recruitment Bill.
The Speaker Mohammad Akbar Lone, who got irritated by the repeated disruption in the proceedings of the House by Independent MLA from Langate, Abdul Rashid Engineer, ordered the Marshals to evict him. The action triggered walkout by three MLAs of the ruling National Conference.
The high-pitched drama disrupted the House proceedings for 42 minutes during Question Hour.
Earlier, two MLAs including Abdul Rashid Engineer and PDP MLA Abdul Haq Khan were marshaled out from the House over the same issue on March 17.
The trouble began at the very outset of the Question Hour when senior NC legislator, Choudhary Ramzan raked up the issue vis-…-vis inter-district recruitment.

The anti-corruption wing of CBI has exposed a loan defaulters-SBI officials nexus, unearthing a fraud of Rs 1.13 cr. A loan of Rs 1.13 cr was secured by Pritam and Jaswinder Singh, partners in Diya Rice Mill at Dablehar, R S Pura, from the Kachi Chawni branch of State Bank of India (SBI) in 1996 to set up a unit for de-husking of paddy (rice sheller).
Of this amount, Rs 80 lakh were taken against working capital and Rs 33.5 lakh as term loan.
In the combined loan of Rs 1.13 cr, plant and machinery were hypothecated as prime security and a piece of 60 kanals of land at Biaspur in RS Pura was mortgaged as collateral security.

JAMMU, Apr 1: Speaker Legislative Assembly, Mohamamd Akbar Lone today snubbed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA, Lal Chand when he tore the copy of question booklet and threw pieces towards the Chair during Question Hour.
It all happened when the Speaker asked the BJP MLA to raise his question. While all other BJP MLAs accompanied by the JKNPP and JSM legislators staged walkout from the House over Dogra Certificate issue, Lal Chand, who ignored the Speaker's direction, joined his party MLAs.

Jammu, April 1: The first three months of 2010 have claimed 94 lives. The deceased include 58 militants, 18 civilians and 18 security men. Around one hundred security men sustained injuries and while as the number of wounded civilians has been pegged at 250.
According to informed sources, militancy related violence registered alarming increase across the state. The year started with a violent clash between civilians and the security men at Sopore in Baramulla district. Twenty persons including a few security men sustained injuries in such clashes.

NEW DELHI, APRIL 1: President Pratibha Patil has transferred the Chief Justice of Sikkim High Court Aftab Hussain Saikia as Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir High Court through an order passed here today.
Earlier, Chief Justice Barin Ghosh of J&K High Court was transferred to Sikkim High Court as Chief Justice through a Presidential order. Thus, the two Chief Justices have virtually been interchanged between the two High Courts.
Ever since the transfer of Justice Ghosh the appointment of his successor was awaited. This had also given indication about the possible swapping of the post by the two Chief Justices, or Justice Ghosh and Justice Saikia.

With the killing of six Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militants, including five Pakistanis, in a gunbattle in Tali Draman-Sarsoti forests of Bhagla in Kalakote, Rajouri, today, troops wiped out the group of eight infiltrators who had sneaked into Indian territory from Pallanwala, Akhnoor, last week.
Two of the infiltrators were killed by troops at Mal near Dharamsal in Kalakote on March 27. The remaining six had managed to escape. In another encounter in the area on March 30, four militants were shot dead by police and army in a joint encounter.

Fighting valiantly, a village defence committee (VDC) member Thursday repulsed an attack by militants on his house at Daroti in Kalakote, Rajouri.
Police sources said four to five militants entered Daroti and went to the house of VDC member Raj Kumar. When he did not open the door even after repeated knocks, they opened indiscriminate fire, the sources said.
The VDC member retaliated from inside. Sources said the exchange of fire between the two sides continued for about an hour after which the militants fled. In 2006 also, Raj had survived an attack by militants in his village which left five VDC members dead.
