SRINAGAR, May 27: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today left for New Delhi and arrived in the Union Capital alongwith three senior leaders of his party to participate in the swearing-in ceremony that will make the National Conference (NC) patriarch, Dr Farooq Abdullah, a Union Minister for the first time in his 29-year-long political career. Portfolio of Non-conventional Energy has been reserved by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for the high-profile politician who has earlier served as Jammu & Kashmir’s Chief Minister for four terms spanning over 11 years.
Winding up a hectic schedule of official meetings, inaugurations, foundation stone laying ceremonies and inspection of offices in Baramulla and Sumbal areas in North Kashmir, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah skipped his scheduled visit to Bandipore and left for New Delhi to participate in his father Farooq Abdullah’s oath-taking at Rashtrapati Bhavan. NEW DELHI, May 27 : Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is set to lead a 78-member council of ministers, including 33 cabinet ministers and 45 ministers of
PM & Sonia Gandhi state, in his second term as head of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government in India. The outgoing government also had 78 ministers.

New Delhi, May 27: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's cabinet will have nine women ministers, one less than the previous Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government.
While Mamata Banerjee, Ambika Soni and Meira Kumar took oath of office last week, on Wednesday six more names were announced for the swearing-in ceremony Thursay.
Out of the six, three are first time ministers -- Congress MPs Krishna Tirath (Delhi) and Preneet Kaur (Patiala, Punjab) and Nationalist Congress Party MP Agatha Sangma (Tura, Meghalaya).

New Delhi, May 27: Opening up more options for travellers seeking details of train services, Railways have started an SMS service on the 139 passenger information system.
The service would enable one to know the PNR status, current train running positions, accommodation and availability and fare enquiry.
"All that a passenger needs to do is SMS the queries to 139 and the information would be provided within minutes," a senior Railway ministry official said.
The official said the SMS service would basically supplement the existing facilities available in 139 and reduce the burden of the network flooded with calls every day.
