| Registration for Amarnath Yatra from June 5 | | Pilgrims, pony wallas to get free insurance cover | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, June 1: In what can be seen as a safety measure and facility introduced for the first time, all the registered yatris, labourers and 'pony wallahs' will get a free accident insurance cover of Rs one lakh during the two-month-long pilgrimage to holy Amarnath cave shrine. The yatra is commencing from July 1 from both traditional Pahalgam and shortest Baltal routes.
However this time every pilgrim will have to provide a self-certification that he or she is fit to undertake the arduous 'yatra', which involves climbing up to 13,500 feet. The Yatra will conclude on Raksha Bandan which falls on August 24 this year.

NEW DELHI, June 1: Four hydel projects in Jammu and Kashmir, expected to generate 449 MW of electricity, are likely to be completed by the end of this year, the government said on Tuesday.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had announced 11 hydel projects in the state under the Prime Minister's Reconstruction Programme.
"Out of these, three projects namely Uri-I (480 MW), Salal-I and II (690 MW) and Dulhasti (390 MW) have already been completed and commissioned.

JAMMU, June 1: A pal of gloom descended on Rajpora, Pulwama when a decomposed human skeleton was unearthed by Bakerwals this morning. This is the fourth skeleton to be recovered from South Kashmir in the past three days.
According to reports, Bakerwals saw worn out clothes protruding from the soil at Namblan Behak in Rajpora, Pulwama today. After slight digging, a decomposed human skeleton was unearthed. A rope and a sharp edged knife were also recovered from the burial site.

JAMMU, June 1: A girl, who was abducted on May 5 from Upper Thathar here, was today recovered from Tamil Nadu. After the girl's abduction, her family members had lodged a report with Janipura police station.
Police sources said during investigation, police came to know that the girl was in Tamil Nadu. JAMMU, June 1: At least two Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militants were killed and an army jawan was injured in an overnight encounter between militants and security forces in Sopore town of Baramulla district of Kashmir.

JAMMU, June 1: A top Pakistani militant of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) outfit was this evening killed by police and 16 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) in a gunbattle in Khera Top forests of Surankote in Poonch.
Acting on a tip-off about the presence of two LeT militants in a dhok in Khera Top woods, jawans of police and 16 RR launched an operation in the area in the evening.
Police sources said when jawans were laying cordon around a dhok at about 6.45 pm, the two militants, who were hiding inside, opened fire, which was returned.
In the ensuing exchange of fire, jawans shot dead one militant while the other managed to be escape in an injured condition, the sources added.

JAMMU, June 1: A selection grade constable, working as wireless operator of SP (headquarters), today died of heart attack which he suffered at district police lines (DPL).
