CBI gets nod to exhume bodies

Ahmed Ali Fayyaz SRINAGAR, Sep 25: Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), that has lately taken up fresh investigation of the death of two young women in Shopian, allegedly an incident of rape-cum-murder, has begun preparations for a fresh post mortem immediately after the District Magistrate, Abdul Majeed Khanday, today ordered exhumation of the dead bodies of 25-year-old Neelofar Jan and 17-year-old Aasiya Jan. CBI is getting a team of forensic science experts for the purpose from New Delhi and the exhumation is likely to be conducted in the next couple of days. Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate of Shopian, Abdul Majeed Khanday, told Early Times that in response to a CBI letter dated September 24th, that reached him today, he ordered exhumation of the dead bodies of both, Neelar Jan and Aasiya Jan, whose burial had taken place in chaotic conditions hours after the dead bodies had been found in Rambiara amid allegations that the young females had been raped and subsequently killed. Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 25: On fourth day of marathon grilling of suspended officials and others, the Special Investigation Team headed by SP Mubashir Latiefi and supervised by DIG Farooq Khan today revealed a major breakthrough in evidence tampering in Amandeep murder case. Agencies New Delhi, Sep 25 : Concerned over a number of senior doctors leaving All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) recently, Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today urged the doctors and faculty of the super-speciality hospital not to leave the institution for the private sector. Remote areas to carry on previous year’s plan funds

Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 25: The National Conference led Government has embarked on an innovative scheme of allowing far-flung areas, where the working season remains extremely limited because of weather vagaries, to operate 100 per cent of their previous year's plan allocations at the commencement of the new financial year. Earlier these areas were entitled to operate upto 25 per cent of the previous year's plan allocations to ensure continuity in ongoing works. Swine flu cases up to 32

Early Times Report Jammu, Sep 25: With one more person testing positive for H1N1 here today, the total number of swine flu cases in Jammu and Kashmir has mounted to 32, Health Department officials said here. Of these, 19 have tested positive for the influenza in Jammu province and 13 others from Kashmir valley, they said. An army officer's daughter was found positive for H1N1 virus today, they said, adding, she has been treated with Tamiflu in Military hospital here and her condition is stated to be stable. India says no to CTBT, NPT

Agencies United Nations, Sep 25: Sticking to its position, India on Friday ruled out signing the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty (NPT) and the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty (CTBT) in its present forms but made it clear that it was committed to ridding the world of nuclear weapons. The Indian stand was reaffirmed in the wake of the UN Security Council resolution, spearheaded by President Barack Obama, that asked all non-NPT signatories to join the treaty as non-nuclear weapon states.
