VC accommodates retired banker to teach management in BGBSU | All is not well in Omar's Raj! Appointment without inviting applications, University accepts | | Sumit Sharma
JAMMU, Sept 4: Vice-Chancellor of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) has in complete breach of competitive rules accommodated a retired bank employee as a faculty member by using special discretionary powers vested in him.
The retired bank employee is now a faculty member and if the insiders are to be believed, government has vested the vice-chancellor of BGBSU with express powers to make appointments, carry out admissions and take all other necessary steps which are 'in the interest of administration'. Adhering to the decree from the top, VC of BGBSU has begun taking decisions in the 'interest of administration.'
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah who has since day 1 preferred and relied excessively on administrative advice over media reportage is seemingly convinced that all is well in institutions which are under his direct control. He seemingly likes selective media reporting and terms rest of it 'blackmail' and 'unnecessary brazen interference' in the government functioning.
VC BGBSU has for the first time dared to accept that S.K.Gupta, who recently ret...

| | Kashmir doesn't have any mainstream politician | Hanging Of Guru | | Rustam
JAMMU, Sep 4: Bulk of the Indian media and the parties like the Congress, the CPI, the CPI-M, the BJP, to mention only a few, term the NC and the PDP Kashmiri leadership as mainstream leadership. Their view is based on the fact that the NC and the PDP are not demanding secession. It is also based on the premise that the NC and the PDP demand solution to the so-called Kashmir problem within the framework of the Indian Constitution. The media and the parties like the Congress and the BJP are absolutely wrong. Their whole assessment is flawed and misplaced. The fact is that both the NC and the PDP have been indulging in soft secessionism ever since their formation. These formations are...

Srinagar, Sep 4: State Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has again said the solution to the political issues of Jammu and Kashmir is on the anvil. He has asked politicians of all opinions to contribute in the pursuit of the solution positively and sincerely.
It is strange that the Chief Minister should speak of a possible political solution on the anvil without specifying clearly what the solution is going to be. | | Dogra youth the Jammu's last hope | 1000-Crore Package | | Neha
JAMMU, Sep 4: Last August witnessed the Dogras in a fighting mood. Not in a fighting mood. In fact, they fought splendidly and forced the otherwise adamant Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal and others of his ilk to climb down and drop the idea of appointing a non-Dogra as the first Vice-Chancellor of the Jammu Central University. The Union Government knelt under pressure created by the determined and unrelenting Dogras, especially the chivalrous, committed, honest and non-purchasable Dogra youth, including the school, college and university-going girl students. The Union Government appointed a Dogra as the Vice-Chancellor. Leave aside the fact that the opinion of the Do...
