The leadership seems to be at loss as whom to select and whom to drop. The delay in announcement regarding the mandate is giving an impression that all is not well with these parties and there is a revolt among the party cadre. The party leadership in both these parties is trying to iron out differences before the announcement of party candidates is made in public. Sources in National Conference said that grassroot workers w...

Now State Govt issues paid advertisements to announce its failure
7/12/2014 12:15:15 AM
Early Times Report JAMMU, July 11: As the state Government started observing the World population fortnight from today, its 'honest' paid advertisement announcing the observation again says it all. The paid advertisement appeals people to limit their families through a universal slogan that says 'small family, happy family' but the reasons the state Government advertisement puts forth for making the appeal are nothing except those which expose the Government's inability to improve the quality of life for an individual, his family and the society at large. One chief reason cited in the advertisement because of which people must limit their families is scarcity of water. Who created sca...

7/12/2014 12:14:42 AM
Shakeel A Khan SRINAGAR, July 11: National Conference has maintained a meaningful silence on Article 370 and AFSPA if they have not any issues for the party leaders which they have been raising from time to time to play with the emotions of the people. Given the mode of the newly elected people at the Centre the leaders of the party have seemingly decided not to touch these issues because there are no takers of these slogans at the Centre. Moreover, the party wants to keep the option of alliance open with the people in power at the Centre. Given the weak position of the party on the political front, leaders of the National Conference can't afford to enter into a confrontation with the ju...

In Vakil's demise NC has lost a decent politician
7/12/2014 12:14:26 AM
M.L. Kak Jammu, July 11: If not anything else the National Conference has lost a leader, Abdul Ahad Vakil, who was essentially a gentleman. He was a politician but with a clean image devoid of deceit and indecency. I had met, for the first time, Vakil during the crucial Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in the state. He was the NC candidate for the Baramulla Lok Sabha constituency. I was impressed by him because of the way he would interact with his party workers and voters in the constituency. He was by profession a lawyer but by temperament a seasoned politician. I remember he did not display any panic because a senior Jamait-e-Islami leader, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, was pitted ag...

In fact, they want to impose their regressive, intolerant and anti-India ideology on them. When it comes to the solution to the so-called Kashmir problem, they talk of the will and aspirations of Kashmir alone, but when the people of Jammu and Ladakh talk about holistic, rational and national approach to the issues facing th...
