| Would reversal of Darbar Move tradition help? | | | | early times report
Jammu, Jan 20: The latest salvo by State Chief Minister Omar Abdullah regarding his desire to have the traditional Dar-bar move reversed should not surprise many.
In his latest comment on the social networking twitter.com site Omar Abdullah said it would be in the fitness of things if the Darbar remained stationed in Jammu during the summer months and in Srinagar during the winter months. The logic behind the argument is that the people of the Valley face hardships during the winter months while the people of the Jammu region face hardships during the summers.

| | | | Is Omar trying to fight or foment regional discrimination? | | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 20 : Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has dished out an idea which one may think superior to Plato's republic. Others may treat it an idea which even Machama,a popular character in Radio Kashmir's serial play that would beguile Kashmiri families till early 70's,could not have imagined.
To others the idea of keeping open the civil secretariat and other move offices open in Srinagar during the winter and keep them open in Jammu during the summer months is the outcome of a brain that is as sharp as that of Newton. Prior to Newton there would have been millions of people who had watched apples falling on the ground. But those millions were not as sharp as Newton who...

National Conference is also facing strong resentment from the Srinagar based legislators who have been completely marginalized and the wings of the lone minister from the city have been clipped by stripping of one important portfolio from him.

| | | | Congress's Chintan Shivir culminates into Rahul fever | | | | Abodh Sharma
Jammu, Jan 20: Congress party's mega PR exercise -the Jaipur Chintan Shivir ended up in a massive PR initiative to project Rahul Gandhi, the party general secretary as the Prime Ministerial candidate of the party for the next general elections scheduled for 2014.
While the elevation of Rahul as the vice president of the party ended the debate over the number two slot in the party and the UPA that had fallen vacant after Pranab Mukherjee moved to the Rasht-rapati Bhawan and even left Sharad Pawar, the NCP president and the UPA ally sulking, it has once again brought to the fore Congress's obsession with the Gandhi family. Congress leaders of all shapes and sizes, from veteran...

JAMMU, Jan 20: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah the other day tweeted that "since the darbar move can be done away with, perhaps the time has come to seriously consider reversing the move", suggesting that the age-old system was akin to "running away at most problematic times". | | | | Moves afoot to break Jammu into smithereens | | Pernicious concept of sub-regions | | | Rustam
JAMMU, Jan 20: One can understand the reasons behind the ill-designed and communally-motivated insistence of Kashmiri leaders on a regime that divides politically, historically, culturally, economically and geographically distinct Jammu province into sub-regions. One can also understand the reasons behind the insistence of the Kashmiri-influenced "conflict-managers" like Indian Minorities Comm-ission chairman Wajahat Habibul-lah and former interlocutors Dilip Pagda-onkar and Radha Kumar on a similar dispensation. They all want to divide Jammu province into various regions on purely communal lines. Their objective always had been, and continues to be, to pit the members of one commun...
