10/11/2010 10:42:34 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Oct 11: Even as the state cabinet has given a go ahead signal for setting up of the cabinet sub committee for the purpose of examining Justice Saghir Ahmad’s report on Fifth Working Group on Centre –state relations, divergent views and resistance is being faced much before it could start deliberations on the report ,the core recommendation of which is autonomy as solution of political problems in the state. Sources said though the cabinet sub committee led by Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather is gearing up for a ‘tough job’ ahead, reluctance has started coming particularly from some Congress quarters based in Jammu and Ladakh on even discussing the report. These leaders have expressed reservations on discussing the main contours and dimensions of the report in the wake of the fact that majority of the representatives from various political non political organizations from both Jammu and Ladakh during the course of the meetings as well as afterwards when the report finally came in last year have opposed tooth and nail the recommendations of this Workin...

3 Abdullahs and a hapless Kashmiri
When will quest for Izzat aur aabiru ka muqaam end?
10/11/2010 10:12:20 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Oct 11: Thirty-five years after Indra-Abdullah accord, Kashmir continues to bleed. Nothing has changed except for a fly-over from secretariat entrance to Budshah Bridge. In 1975 the political leadership ended their `political wilderness'. The accord infused new life in them and they promised to strive for an Izzat aur aabiru ka muqaam (honour and respect) for Kashmiris. Sher-e-Kashmir made his deputy, Mirza Muhammad Afzal Beg fight for the right to self determination for 22 years. Although Sheikh stayed away from the Plebiscite Front but issued statements from time to time seeking enforcement of this right. The gullible Kashmiris supported him. They ...

News ANALYSIS
10/11/2010 10:12:07 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 11: Believe it or not, but it is a fact that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has said that Jammu district gets more funds as compared to Srinagar district. In fact, he, on October 7, bemoaned saying that Jammu grabs more funds as compared to Kashmir. He made this ridiculous statement on the floor of the assembly. Of course, it was a written statement and it was tabled in the assembly in response to a question of the JSM MLA from Bishnah Aswini Sharma. Who is he trying to befool and mislead? His government can befool the naïve and certain legislators who go to the assembly unprepared, but it cannot befool the people of Jammu province who know each and everything ...
