Dissenting, divergent views from Jammu, Ladakh make panel task tough | Cabinet sub committee on Justice Sahgir Ahmad Report | |

Jammu, Oct 11: Even as the state cabinet has given a go ahead signal for setting up of the cabinet sub committee for the purpose of examining Justice Saghir Ahmad’s report on Fifth Working Group on Centre –state relations, divergent views and resistance is being faced much before it could start deliberations on the report ,the core recommendation of which is autonomy as solution of political problems in the state.
Sources said though the cabinet sub committee led by Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather is gearing up for a ‘tough job’ ahead, reluctance has started coming particularly from some Congress quarters based in Jammu and Ladakh on even discussing the report. These leaders have expressed reservations on discussing the main contours and dimensions of the report in the wake of the fact that majority of the representatives from various political non political organizations from both Jammu and Ladakh during the course of the meetings as well as afterwards when the report finally came in last year have opposed tooth and nail the recommendations of this Workin... | |

Pak-based Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) terror outfit chief Syed Salahuddin got the right and tough message from army chief, Gen V K Singh when he said "if he attempts to infiltrate, he will also be dealt with in the same way his accomplices are".
Intelligence agencies had Saturday said that Salahudin was nowadays taking rounds of the militant training camps across the Line of Control (LoC) to revive the sagging spirits of the trainee and trained militants.

Jammu, Oct 11: Police averted an apparent gang war when it arrested six gangsters during different raids conducted in city today.
Police recovered two country made pistols (katta) and two sharp edged weapons from their possession.
On specific information that a gang war was imminent between Bakra group and Billu group in city, Sarwal police conducted raids and arrested six gangsters of Billu gang. Police came to know about a possible attack on the revelation of one of the gangsters of Billu group identified as Sanjay Dogra son of Kasturi Lal Dogra.
Sanjay was arrested by police with a sharp edged weapon from New Plot area two days back.

Rajouri, Oct 11: With graveyard mafia operating in Rajouri, atleast 45 kanals of graveyards of the Muslim community have reportedly reduced to 14 kanals. The available space is occupied by the graves and now there is almost no space available for burial of more dead bodies.
Having population of 25000 Muslims in the town of Rajouri, there are three graveyards viz Jawahar Nagar, Bus Stand and Rani Graveyard. All these burial grounds have reportedly been occupied with the graves and now there is any space available for burial of more dead bodies. JAMMU, Oct 11: A former army man and an SPO were among six persons arrested in connection with recovery of IEDs in high-security MLA hostel area in Jammu city on Friday with IGP Jammu zone saying that "some" Military Intelligence (MI) officials were under scanner.
"We are investigation the role of some officers of Military Intelligence in IEDs recovery case in Jammu," Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone, Ashok Gupta said.
An official monitoring the case said that the explosives were brought by five-member militant module from Gandoh belt of Doda district to Jammu for delivery to one Ram Krishen - an ex-serviceman who was arrested today.

| | Infiltration going up, admits army | | | NEW DELHI: Around 25 infiltration attempts have been made by militants from across the Line of Control (LoC) in the last two months and 35-40 terrorists have been killed by the security forces during the same period.
This was stated by Chief of the Army Staff General V K Singh here today. He said the number of infiltration attempts have gone up in the last two months but the Army has been able to control it to a large extent. "In last two months, we have had approximately 20-25 attempts and total number of terrorists killed during this period has been about 35-40," Gen Singh said.
