JAMMU, Feb 24:
Another occurrence of total disorder and pandemonium marked third day’s Business in Legislative Assembly as vociferous opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) MLAs’ heightened reprisal on the issue of human rights violation in Kashmir Valley disrupted the House proceedings during Question Hour.
However, as the proceedings continued even amid chaos and noisy scenes, two main constituents of opposition, PDP and BJP staged walk out, though separately, against the government’s “insensitiveness” towards their pleas.
While the BJP MLAs staged walk out just six minutes after the commencement of House proceedings, the main opposition having 21 MLAs led by Mehbooba Mufti staged walk out at the end of Question Hour and later boycotted the House Business for rest of the day.

| | | | Concessions for passengers in Mamata's rail budget | | | | NEW DELHI: The Railway Budget for 2010-11 on Wednesday proposed no increase in passenger fares and freight rates while reducing the tariff by Rs 100 per wagon in transportation of foodgrains, kerosene and fertilisers to tackle the price rise.
The budget, presented by Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee in the Lok Sabha, also proposed to reduce the maximum limit of service charge on e-booking of tickets to Rs 10 for sleeper class and Rs 20 for AC class. The present maximum charge is Rs 15 and Rs 40 respectively.
This is the seventh year in a row that passenger fares have not been raised.

Apart from violating ceasefire on the International Border (IB) to facilitate infiltration, the Pak Rangers this morning fired a shot at a BSF cop near Katau Post in Samba sector,
causing him a serious injury.
In another incident in Samba's Bain Galad forward area, 30 mt barbed-wire fencing was blown up in at least two powerful improvised explosive device (IED) blasts.
Official sources said the Rangers violated ceasefire when they fired shots targetting Katau border outpost at about 5.30 am. Fire was returned. The intermittent exchange of fire between the two sides continued till 6 am, the sources added.

The mother of a seven-month-old girl child approached Women Police Cell here Tuesday evening with an alleged complaint that her husband had a sexually transmitted disease (STD) about which she was kept in dark by her in-laws.
