Scripting a new era of cooperation in construction of projects, power generation and sales, the Jammu and Kashmir government has entered into a unique pact with the central government which puts both parties in a win-win situation.
Under new arrangement which is a test case for some projects in Doda district, the Jammu and Kashmir government and the Center government owned National Hydro-electric Project Corporation will have an equity share ratio of 49:51 respectively. A decision to this effect was taken in a meeting between the Union Minister of State for Power Jairam Ramesh and J&K Minister of State for Power Babu Singh.
According to the official sources, the state government and NHPC has formally agreed upon the equity share in respect of three major power projects coming up on the River Chinab and a draft MoU will be forwarded to the state for its cabinet approval in next couple of weeks. The visit of Director General of Border Security Force, who was scheduled to be here today, was put off following the situation arising out of late Tuesday evening serial blasts in Jaipur.
DG BSF AK Mitra was scheduled to visit Jammu today to review situation following infiltration and subsequent militant attack in Samba sector. After the Jaipur serial blasts on Tuesday evening which left 63 people dead, his visit was postponed and was rescheduled for Thursday.

Two central reserve police force (CRPF) troopers were killed by militants in the upper reaches of south Kashmir's Shopian district while four civilians were injured in a shooting incident in north Kashmir's Rafiabad area late Tuesday night.
Police said the bodies of the two troopers, who were abducted and later killed by the militants in the forest area of Keller in Shopian district, 50 km from here, were recovered late Tuesday.
CRPF troops have been carrying out searches in the area, following specific inputs about presence of a group of separatist guerrillas.
