SRINAGAR, Jun 30: In the midst of the academic year, Government on Wednesday ordered a major reshuffle of Principals of Degree Colleges throughout the state. Yesterday's shake-up came parallel to the populist creation of 22 fresh degree colleges even as the educational institutes created by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed's and Ghulam Nabi Azad's governments are still deficient in terms of faculty as well as infrastructure. Since creation of most of these colleges is said to be a political decision with total disregard to the norms and parameters fixed by the state Planning Department, intelligentsia is dismissing the expansion as an 'educational tsunami'.

JAMMU, June 30 : Police have solved the blind murder of a man whose body was recovered from an unfrequented piece of land at Preet Nagar, Digiana, here on June 20 last.
Bihari Lal's body was badly decomposed when it was recovered by police. He had a deep head injury. The hammer, used in the killing, was also recovered by police.
During investigation, it became known to police that he was last seen with his neighbour Noushad Khan, a mason by profession.
A tip-off today led police to the arrest of Noushad from Dina Nagar in Punjab. He originally hails from Bihar.

JAMMU, JUNE 30 : A 19-year-old newly married woman and an unidentified man were killed in separate road accidents here since last night.
The motorcycle of SPO Darshan Lal of Barian, Samba, today got trapped in a broken patch of Mansar road at Mananu as a result of which it fell in the middle of the road.
Darshan's wife Ranjana (19), who was sitting on the pillion seat along along two children of his elder brother, sustained a critical head injury.
She was shifted to Samba district hospital from where she was referred to the GMC hospital but she died on the way.

SRINAGAR, JUNE 30 : Police today seized three kilogram explosive material from the compound of J&K Tourism Development Corporation's hotel Heemaal at the tourist hub of Boulevard near Dalgate.
SSP Srinagar, Syed Ashiq Hussain Bukhari, told Early Times that someone had managed to carry the explosive material in a polythene bag and dropped it on the compound of Hotel Heemaal. However, Police rushed to the spot with bomb disposal squad immediately after receiving the tip off and seized the unfabricated explosive device.

KISHTWAR, JUNE 30 : Two Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militants struck the remote Nagnigard Keshwan police post here in the wee hours of Thursday morning, critically wounding a special police officer (SPO).
LeT district commander Habib Gujjar alias Salman and his deputy Khurshid Ahmad threw a grenade towards the police post at 1.30 am when some cops were about to leave for routine night patrolling.

JAMMU : The personal security officer of union minister Ghulam Nabi Azad's brother was today beaten up by some unknown youth at Belicharana near Satwari here.
Cop Shamas Din, PSO of Ghulam Mustafa -- a contractor and Azad's brother -- was given a severe beating by some youth at Belicharana where he had gone in connection with some work, police sources said. The assailants later fled the spot. Shamas was admitted to the GMC hospital. Originally a resident of Kupwara, he was at present putting up at Gujjar Basti here.
