MUNISH GUPTA Jammu, Aug 4: As the team of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah returns from New Delhi with no positive signals to be shared with public, the Central University Andolan Samiti –a conglomerate of several organizations –today toughened its stand declaring that nothing short of establishment of Central University in Jammu region will satisfy their legitimate demand. Taking stock of the situation arising over the controversy on establishment of CU, the Samiti today appointed four co-conveners of the CUAS namely Ved Raj Wazir, senior advocate, Daleep Singh Jamwal, President of JUTA, Dr Narinder Singh, President of Teachers Association of SKUAST and Pushwinder Singh Manhas, a student leader, to strengthen their amalgam of about 25 organizations. “CUAS will not let its anger and may go for vigorous agitation in Jammu to achieve our ultimate goal to establish Central University in Jammu”, stated Convenor Central University Andolan Samiti (CUAS) Justice Paviter Singh, He alleged that State Government is creating confusion to appease the Kashmiris who have been even satisfied w...

SALMAN NIZAMI JAMMU AUG 4: Traffic Police is facing serious dearth of manpower to deal with the burgeoning traffic crisis. Currently the department has only 375 personnel at its disposal in Jammu when there is a need of 1000 more personnel. They work for more than 12 hours a day for traffic regulation and enforcement. “We are running short of manpower. The way traffic is increasing, we are falling short of at least 1000 personnel to manage traffic in the city as well as in rural areas,” Senior superintendent of police Traffic Parvinder Singh, told Early Times. Agencies New Delhi Aug 4: Unhappy with the way the National Rural Health Mission has been implemented by states, Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has said the flagship scheme was not going in the right direction and the state governments should equally "share the burden". "What I see is that the state governments think the government of India is giving money, why should we bother," Azad told reporters. According to Azad, this defeats the entire purpose of the NRHM. Agencies New Delhi Aug 4: Employees of state-run banks have decided to go ahead with their proposed strike on Thursday and Friday following failure of talks with the Government over hike in wages and other demands. "Our talks were inconclusive but we are meeting again on Tuesday. Early times Report Jammu, Aug 4: An impersonator was today caught by a civilian from Jammu Airport and was handed over to the police in Satwari area on city outskirts for allegedly having lured people for job, sources here said. Agencies New Delhi: With intelligence agencies warning terrorist attacks on military installations in Jammu and Kashmir, Army Chief General Deepak Kapoor on Tuesday said security forces are "capable and confident" of taking on such threats.
