Peoples Democratic Party VS National Conference
Kashmir's Political Scene -- II
1/19/2012 11:37:50 PM
Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 19: The PDP again contested the assembly elections in 2008. It improved its tally from 19 in 2002 to 21 in 2008. It maintained its position in the Valley and captured two seats in Jammu province's Rajouri-Poonch belt. Ladakh again disappointed it. The elections demonstrated that the PDP, which had ruled the state for three years, had not lost it support-base in Kashmir. But it also indicated that it had not been able to expand it either. This was a matter of concern for the party bigwigs. However, the election results were a no solace for the NC whose tally remained the same as in 2002 (28). And, this, despite the fact that it had remained in opposition for f...

1/19/2012 11:36:55 PM
Bharat Bhushan JAMMU, Jan 19: KPS officers have alleged a raw deal in promotions as compared to the IPS regular recruits. "Be it the issue of a promotion in job, or an unpleasant situation, KPS officers are mostly at the receiving end," a police source said. He said while IPS officers got promotion after every four years, the KPS officers had to wait for six to eight years for their promotion to the next rank. "Such a system has affected the career of KPS officers. Many of them cannot become even DIGs, or IGPs in their lives," the source said. "While KPS officers struggle to move from SSPs to DIGs, RRs rise to the rank of ADGs and DGPs," he added. In the last 30 years, only three KPS ...

NC ridicules BJP, asks it to keep quiet
Succinct Observation
1/19/2012 11:35:55 PM
Neha JAMMU, Jan 19: The other day, the state unit of BJP held a press conference to express its opinion on the performance of the NC-led coalition government in Jammu and Kashmir. It was addressed by none other than the president of the party. The BJP president dubbed the state government as non-performing and dismissed as a bundle of lies the official document containing information on what the state government had done during the past three years. The document, compendium, was issued or made public on January 5, the day the Omar Abdullah completed three years in office as chief minister. It was an irony of sorts that the NC hit back overlooking the fact that it was the same BJP, which h...

A Tale Of A National Party
Amusing & Disgusting
1/19/2012 11:35:20 PM
Rustam JAMMU, Jan 19: There is in this country of 120 crore people a party which is termed as the grand old party of India. It has its organizational structure. It has a president who is the supreme leader. No one can dare oppose the president or criticize the president's policies and views. The president chairs the core committee meetings. The president also attends a few other party meetings. The president also has a coterie consisting of half a dozen self-seekers, who, like their president, are also not aware of the people's needs, problems and aspirations. The president doesn't know the people. An overwhelming majority of people also doesn't know this president of the national party. I...
