Seeking to constitute State Vigilance Commission (SVC), administrative heads of 34 departments/ministries have been asked to sponsor or recommend 'competent officers' known for outstanding merit and impeccable integrity. By humiliating General Singh Cong demoralising the Army
Is Delhi Pursuing Omar Line?
1/8/2012 12:00:14 AM
Rustam JAMMU, Jan 7: J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah perhaps was the first constitutional authority in the country who openly challenged the Army and put forth demands calculated to make the Army dysfunctional and create a situation under which those defending the borders and maintaining territorial integrity of India after fighting splendidly and making supreme sacrifices would face trails for eliminating and neutralising the enemies of the country. What Omar said and did between October 21 and November 10, 2011 and even thereafter to lower the morale of the Army is too well-known. In fact, his irresponsible, rather provocative, November 9-10, 2011 statement on the Army and the AFSPA wou...

`Panchayat elections cannot be substitute for development"
What new era Mr Gul?
1/7/2012 11:59:44 PM
Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 7: Advisor to Chief Minister Mubarak Gul on Friday complemented the people of Jammu and Kashmir for extending their whole hearted support to the coalition government led by Omar Abdullah, saying this has enabled the State to usher in a new era of peace and development. As far as peace is concerned, the National Conference led government cannot escape responsibility for disrupting peace. Had NC not rigged the 1987 elections, the situation would have been different today. The separatists who run the show today had willingly participated in the electoral politics. The Hizbul Muahideen Chief, Muhammad Yusuf alias Syed Salah-ud-Din was a candidate from Amira Kadal...

Congress-BJP In Disarray
1/7/2012 11:59:22 PM
Neha JAMMU, Jan 7: The decision of the Congress high command to maintain status quo in the state or to allow the NC to lead the coalition government for another three years has completely changed the political scenario in Jammu province. The immediate fall-out of the decision has been that the Congress, which is part of the coalition government, has been reduced to a nullity in Jammu province for all practical purposes. As a matter of fact, the decision has left the Congress rank and file dejected, disappointed, baffled and totally demoralised, with most of the local Congress leaders and workers admitting in private that the Congress high command has "dug the Congress grave, especially in ...

What kept Omar Abdullah’s crown intact?
1/7/2012 12:04:24 AM
Syed Junaid Hashmi JAMMU, Jan 6: More than Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s purported closeness with Congress high command, UPA’s fluctuating fortunes in the centre and divided state Congress prevented ball from swinging other way around. Early Times has credible evidence at hand which confirms that more than JKPCC President’s group; it was ex-Chief Minister’s and presently, Union minister’s coterie of leaders who obliquely ensured continuance of Omar Abdullah regime for next three years. JKPCC president and his group followed directions of Congress high command religiously including the decision to allow Omar to complete six year term. On the contrary, loyalists of ex-Chief Minister wou...
