JAMMU, Oct 5: With Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry unveiling the real picture in its report on state of elementary education, school education is seemingly on 'Ram Bharosey' in Jammu and Kashmir.
Released in the month of August this year, the report on elementary education has given detailed account of how bad the situation is and how the government has failed to improve standard of education. According to the report, of the total 28307 schools; only 21.31 percent have been provided with electricity connection while the remaining have either not applied or the Power Development Department has been unnecessarily delaying the connections.
These include schools both in the urban as well as rural areas. According to the report, there are several hundred schools even in Jammu region which remains hot and humid for around 8 months of the year. Worst is the condition in the Primary Schools. 90.74 percent are without electricity connections. This makes it inconvenient for children to study inside the classrooms.

It is deplorable that while our legislators have enhanced their salaries and perk twice in as many years in one voice, they have not cared for the implementation of the central legislation that ensures maintenance of the elderly people by their children and grand children in J&K since 2007.
