Jammu, Feb 9: A day after serious charges of corruption were leveled against him, PHE,Irrigation and Flood control Minister Taj Mohid-ud-Din turned defensive contending it was a conspiracy within the party to tarnish his image. He said that some people outside the party are spreading what he termed as 'canard of lies' against him as they fear from his 'rising popularity'. "There is a conspiracy within the party going on against me for quite some time……it gained momentum from the day my name was recommended for the post of Deputy Chief Minister", Taj observed while speaking to media in a press conference called by him today to give 'clarification' over the issue. He said he was being targeted and efforts were on malign his image." This is only because of my popularity…..", Taj said adding that attempts of mir...

Jammu, Feb 9: The manner and the timing of corruption charges against Congress ministers reflect that there is a design behind it. Although corruption cannot be and should not be condoned, the developments need to be studied keenly.
Not two but three Congress Ministers are in trouble. Allegations against them have come to surface at a time when Omar Abdullah completed three years in office. Taj Mohi-ud-Din questions the process. "Only Congress ministers are accused of corruption", he said.
The sequence of events also conveys that there is something fishy about the whole affair. Just a day before Omar had to complete three years in office, Health Minister Sham Lal was f...

| | Grades of Medical College Principals revised, what about upgradation of faculties? | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 9: The State government has issued orders making an upward revision in the pay scales of the Principals of Government Medical Colleges of Srinagar and Jammu.
The grade pay of the Principals of State's two government owned Medical Colleges has been increased from Rs. 10000 to Rs. 12000. It is quite baffling that the revision has been done by the state cabinet in isolation of the other Principals like those of the Government Dental Colleges and also that the post of the Principal has been chosen for an upward revision in isolation to those of the faculty members of the two Medical Colleges in the State.
It is a strange that the nomenclatures of lecturers, assi...

Jammu, Feb 9: The Hindu refugees from West Pakistan, as everyone knows, have been moving heaven and earth in Jammu and Kashmir and New Delhi since 1947 to obtain citizenship rights in the state so that they could also lead a dignified life, but with no result. (They migrated to Jammu in the aftermath of the country's communal partition to save their life, honour, culture and religion. The fanatics and ardent believers in the concept of 2-nation were after them. These minority Hindus had two options: persecution and conversion or migration; they exercised the second option and migrated to Jammu and elsewhere in India.) During the 2009 general elections, some UP Congress leaders described Sonia Gandhi as "Bharat Mata". Earlier, a very senior Congress leader Dev Kant Barua had described "Indira as India and India as Indira". "Indira is India and India is Indira," he had said. Almost at the same time, the UP Chief Minister Narayan Dutt Tiwari, who was shunted out of the Andhra Pradesh ...
