3/17/2012 12:21:37 PM
J&K to have own nursing act Jammu Mar 16: Following no consensus over the crucial issue of imposing ban on private practice of doctors, the NC led coalition government today referred the matter to the law ministry and asked it to examine the legal implementation of the ruling given by division bench of J&K High Court. The law department would look into the matter and determine next legal course to be adopted by the government, in terms of following or not implementing the High Court ruling. The matter came up of discussion during the Cabinet meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah but no consensus could be arrived at due to diverse views of members. Even as the matter was discussed threadbare during the meeting, sources said all the cabinet members were not of unanimous view that ban the imposed on the practice of doctors who are in government jobs. It was in the wake of lack of consensus that matter has been referred to law ministry for determining next legal course for the government. Pertinent to mention here is that imposing ban on priv...

Belligerent China & Pakistan force India's increase on defence expenses
3/17/2012 12:19:52 PM
Early Times Report Jammu, March 16:-Even though India has raised its defence budget from Rs.164000 crores in 2011-2012 to Rs.193000 crores in 2012-2013 it is far less than its two main enemies,China and Pakistan. As far as the Chinese defence budget for the year 2011-2012 is concerned it was 110 billion dollars and that of Pakistan Rs.495 billions. As has been the case last year both China and Pakistan had hiked the defence expenses by 11 to 12 per cent as compared to the defence budget of 2010-2011.If this hike is allowed to continue during the next financial year it means that both Beijing and Islamabad would be providing a major share of its spending on the defence. NEHA JAMMU, Mar 16: The people of Jammu and Kashmir will go to the polls in April this year to elect new corporations and other urban local-bodies. All political parties in the state are busy these days working out strategies to win the civic elections. There are unconfirmed reports that the Congress and NC are likely to contest the coming elections jointly. It can happen considering the prevailing political scenario, which is not quite favourable for them. The PDP will, it appears, go it alone. The BJP is unlikely to enter into pre-poll alliance with any political group, not even the Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP). Similarly, the JKNPP is unlikely to enter into pr...
