3/19/2011 12:14:52 AM
KUNAL SHRIVATSA JAMMU, Mar 18: Stirring a hornet’s nest, the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today alleged that it was NDA government which approached him to support the Trust Vote in 1998-99 with an offer of a ‘favour’ in return of bailing out the then Union Government while rejecting the Wikileaks Cable’s expose that he was ‘bribed’ by UPA Government in 2008 for favouring the nuclear deal. While talking to reporters outside the Legislative Assembly this morning after his name allegedly figured in the WikiLeaks Cables, which were carried by a section of the print media, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said he had extended support to the UPA Government over nuclear deal during the July 2008 trust vote on his own and not at the behest of Rahul Gandhi. "I honestly recall that Rahul Gandhi never called up to seek my support on the passage of crucial nuclear deal…. In fact I approached Rahul asking him whether I can be of any help as I was of the belief that India needed the nuclear deal to improve its energy scenario… Even I stated it in my speech on July 22 in the Lok Sabha dur...

He also said he had no time to meet the separatist leaders though he spent quite some time playing basketball with the students of Delhi Public School (DPS) in the summer capital.
