Early Times Report srinagar, Mar 26: People of Jammu and Srinagar cities are up in arms against the National Conference led coalition Government for getting peanuts for the land acquired for road widening. Even the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has criticized the state government for having failed to provide due and fair compensation to the families whose land and property has been acquired for the purpose of road widening in various parts of Srinagar. In a statement issued here AAP leader and Lok Sabha candidate for Srinagar Parliamentary seat Dr Raja Muzaffar Bhat said that present Government has miserably failed to provide due compensation to the effected people as new Land Acquisition Act hasn't been enacted by the state legislature till date. "The new Land Acquisition Rehabilitation & Resettlement Act (LARR) is enforced in the country from last many years but the Omar Abdullah led Government is least bothered to enact the same law here in J&K. Avinash Azad JAMMU, Mar 26: Inefficiency and indifference of Principal Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) towards the disadvantaged section of society can be gauged from the fact that the funds-- Under National Blindness Control Programme (NBCP) are lying un-utilized for more than 10 years, besides, its counterpart GMC Srinagar has spent same grant three times. Sources informed Early Times that an amount of Rs 28 lacs was left un-utilized, since it was released by Union Government under NBCP 10 years back. The Special Anti-Corruption Court Judge Kashmir M L Manhas issued the written proclamation after Crime Branch moved a motion to this effect.
