NC 'manages to grind own axe' on CVC appointment | Meeting of High level Panel convened on May 12 | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 30: Keen on making State Vigilance Commission functional for over six months, now, the ruling NC has conveniently delayed the process of selection of an officer who will head the Commission as Chief Vigilance Commissioner. The delay is not propelled on account of circumstances or extra ordinary pre occupation of the coalition Government with other matters of governance instead the NC has done it purposefully in order to grind its own axe in terms of having an officer of its own choice at the helm of 'affairs' in the Commission. Even as the name for this post has been almost decided by the coalition partners, a formal meeting of the High level Selection Committee led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has been convened on May 12 at Srinagar.
Though it is no secret now that DGP Kuldeep Khoda's name is among prime contenders whom NC wants to be on board as Chairman of SVC, coalition, NC in particular wanted to settle the things in this direction as per their own liking that would eventually serve its own purposes in more than one way. For reasons appar...

Jammu, Apr 30: In his marathon visit of the twin border districts of Poonch and Rajouri, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has made a bid to set the things right on more than one front, albeit using the political trumpet in every rally he addressed almost at a stretch for four days. This was Omar Abdullah's hectic ever political touring to these districts, once considered to be the strong bastions of his party. Days after he took over the reins as working president, an onus his father gave to him, the son has commenced the task religiously initiating the 'assignment' from these two districts.

| | PDP rejects magisterial enquiry as eyewash | Yusuf killing case | | Early Times Report
srinagar, Apr 30: Rejecting magisterial enquiry in Haji Yusuf killing as a mere eyewash, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) president, Mahbooba Mufti said the enquiry had many loopholes.
Ms Mufti said nobody expects a Magistrate to probe his Chief Minister or MoS Home and other extra-constitutional authorities fairly and in accordance with law.
The Magistrate's report which gave a clean chit to the Chief Minister has added insult to injury. "Celebrating this report as a certificate of good conduct is simply ridiculous", a spokesman of PDP said.
According to the spokesman, the Magistrate and the doctors who conducted autopsy had been promoted recently. "It is a shame...
| | Omar gets clean chit in Haji Yusuf death case | | | Srinagar: In a relief to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, a magisterial probe into the death of National Conference worker Syed Mohammad Yousuf last year, has found that he died due to cardiovascular arrest and not because of any assault by personnel in the Chief Minister's camp office or by police.
"(The) deceased on the morning of September 30, 2011 was even walking as he was seen by witnesses and going to the bathroom as well which shows that he was normal.
"Thus the allegations levelled in the media about the deceased are not based on facts, as whatever they have stated is only out of imagination or some motivation," the report said apparently referring to criticism at the time of the ...

He has simply made it clear that he would not be quitting as Prime Minister. This announcement is quite significant because Gilani is also vice-chairman of the ruling PPP indicating that the PPP was not going to surrender easily.

| | Gross Discrimination Appointments in Jammu & Kashmir Bank | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 30: People of Kashmir, excluding non-Muslims, have been dominating every institution in the State since October 1947 and systematically excluding the people of Jammu Province from all the institutions, political, economic and social. The story of representation of the Jammu youth in the Jammu and Kashmir Bank is no different. Jammu, Apr 30: Is it due to leadership vacuum in Jammu region, or the New Delhi's appeasement policy that Kashmiris continue to dominate state politics and be preferred over Jammu leaders?
Jammu definitely is in dire need of a towering leader who is competent enough to lead the masses here, but the others who have carved out an important place for them in the State and national politics are seen nowhere in newspaper columns and TV news channels.
But small, worthless and even anti-national statements of any Kashmiri leader hit the headlines of even national dailies. The nationalist voices in Jammu get suppressed, may be in the absence of full-time lobbies on their back....
