Khanday's entry in J&K Bank's BOD becomes albatross in Govt's neck | | | Ahmed Ali Fayyaz
SRINAGAR, June 14: Absence of the state government's Finance Secretary, Iqbal Khanday, in Board of Directors (BOD) of Jammu & Kashmir Bank Ltd (JKB), running through sixth month after his appointment, is fast turning into an embarrassment for the bureaucracy. It is now becoming clear that Chief Secretary, Madhav Lal, and then Commissioner-Secretary General Administration Department (GAD), Mohammad Sayeed Khan, had not properly advised Omar Abdullah's cabinet on sensitive service matters before the senior IAS officer's appointment as Principal Secretary Finance in December, 2011.
The Cabinet shifted Khanday from Department of Agriculture Production and appointed him administrative Secretary in Department of Finance in place of Mr Sudhanshu Pandey on December 16th last year.
By virtue of his appointment, Finance Secretary automatically becomes the state Government's official representative and Director in JKB's BOD. However, website of the bank that has 53.17% equity from Government of Jammu & Kashmir, has been continuously mentioning Pandey as a Director on Board...

| | Kashmiri Leadership & Regional Councils | Appropriate time for separation | | NEHA
JAMMU, June 14: It was too well-known that Kashmiri leaders of all shades of opinion were rabidly anti-Jammu and anti-Ladakh and that in pursuit of their political, administrative, social and economic policies they were directed more by Kashmir than by the state interests. The far-reaching effects of their policies adversely affected the development of Jammu and Ladakh, which could have been developed, had there a mechanism in place barring the Kashmiri leadership from doing what they did since 1947. Everyone in Jammu and Ladakh would recognize this fact. Leave alone a couple of social scientists who are on the staff of University of Jammu. For, they represent the Kashmiri interests i...
| | Is APHC of Mirwaiz really moderate? | Misinformation Campaign | | RUSTAM
JAMMU, June 14: Is All-Party Hurriyat Conference - Mirwaiz (APHC-M) really moderate? It is not. Unfortunately, it has become customary with Indian intellectuals, think-tanks and commentators to term the APHC-M as moderate and the one which is being headed by Syed Ali Shah Geelani as an extremist outfit. The argument these intellectuals, including social scientists, invariably advance is that APHC-M is moderate because it talks of independence from both India and Pakistan and the Geelani's outfit is extremist and fundamentalist because it seeks the state's integration in the Pakistani state on the basis of religion. This is a flawed argument.
The APHC-M is not moderate. It is as ext...
