Is gulf between coalition allies widening ?
Washing dirty linen will yield no good
7/24/2010 12:20:49 AM
EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, July 23: There is complete lull in the coalition corridors after the shocking revelations and allegations of corruption indulged in by the ministers of both National Conference and Congress. Is this lull indicative of the 'expected' storm in coming days? No one knows. As for now, one thing is sure to decipher from the 'eerie silence' that the fresh 'political turmoil' has only widened the gap and gulf between the coalition partners. The developments, though on all 'unsubstantive' basis has also resulted in differences widening within the parties. The wheels of the coalition partners in J&K never moved with a cohesive force in the past ever since they entere...

Losing upon audience, cinema facing extinction in Jammu
7/24/2010 12:20:19 AM
SIDDHARTH Early Times Report JAMMU, July 23: The fall in cinema viewer ship in state has evoked a mixed response from the prospective fans here who generally fail to come up with any substantial answer on the gradual fizzle, but are really worrying on its virtual demise. Though the most effective and oldest source of entertainment, the present cinema, despite being content worthy, is failing to be the crowd puller among the GenX, a reason still untraceable. "The diminishing audience in the cinema in Jammu has accelerated faster than the receding hairline of the balding man and hence should be a debate to worry with the filmmakers as well the theater owners," joked Nitin Baru, an ardent...

It met at a time when the Kashmir Valley is on the boil and the extremists and separatists in no mood to relent. It was obvious that the members of the working committee would discuss - apart from organizational matters, nature of governance and causes responsible for the growth of the cult of stone throwing - measures that could end violence in the Valley and help resumption of day-to-day activities. The working committee felt that two steps are needed to be taken immediately to defuse the potentially dangerous situation in the Valley ...
