Jammu, Sept 16: Throwing the rule book into dustbin, the administration of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University engaged wife of a senior executive of Shrine Board on deputation basis, but within six months her monthly salary was enhanced by administration.
Documents in the possession of Early Times revealed that Roop Avtar Kaur an (IFS) who is wife of Additional Chief Executive Officer of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB), Mandeep Bhandari, had joined the SMVDU as Registrar on deputation basis on August 17, 2009.
"When she had joined the University, her monthly basic pay was fixed Rs 31,680, interestingly within five months of her service, her salary was enhanced, and she was placed in pay band of Rs 37,000-67,000 with grade pay of Rs 10,000", the documents reveal.
Information seeker, Udhay Chand, who had sought information from SMVDU, Katra under RTI act 2009 and shared information with ET, claimed that the Registrar had been drawing the pay RS 31,680 (Basic Pay Fixed) for six months from the date of her joining.

SRINAGAR, Sept 16: Normal life continues to remain paralyzed in the South Kashmir district of Shopian as the curfew imposed by the authorities on September 7 continued for the 10th day today. People in this district have been caged due to the imposition of curfew and enforcement of strict restrictions.
In the meantime authorities lifted curfew from other South Kashmir areas like Pulwama, Kulgam, Redwani, Khudwani and Kakapora in the morning today.
