Re-employment, service extension files heap up in GAD | Many more officials seek post-retirement rehabilitation | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 19: Over two dozen retired or retiring government officials are currently seeking re-employment or extension to service in contravention to NC led coalition government's stated policy.
Informed sources in General Administration Department (GAD) revealed to Early Times that in addition to 85 retired officials, who had already managed re-employment after reaching superannuation or extension to services ahead of their retirement, over two dozen more officials were currently seeking a post-retirement rehabilitation. Immediately after taking over in January 2009, NC-led coalition government had announced the policy of not granting any extension to services of the retiring employees. It had decided that in "very compelling circumstances", extension of a maximum of one year could be granted to t he incumbents holding reputation of exceptionally meritorious public servants. However, nearly a hundred blue-eyed boys of bureaucrats and politicians managed extension of one or even two years.
Sources said that one of the retired officials of the st...

| | Now the interlocutors are listening more & speaking less | | | RUSTAM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Jan 19: Have the Delhi-appointed interlocutors for Jammu and Kashmir given up their habit of speaking too much? Or, have they finally accepted that they committed serious blunders by speaking too much while touring different parts of the state last year? The answer to both these questions is in the affirmative.
They have, it can be said, turned somewhat experienced or may be it was the Home Minister's snub that ultimately forced the otherwise rather talkative interlocutors to listen more from the people and keep their mouth shut or not to make their views public on each and every issue that they discuss with the people in Jammu and Kashmir. Home Minister ...

JAMMU, Jan 19: The critics of those in Jammu who advocate trifurcation as a lasting solution to the Jammu problem as well as other issues facing the state say that Jammu leaders are responsible for the neglect of the Muslim-majority districts in the province? The fact is that most of the Jammu-based leaders have been consistently struggling to obtain justice for the province and its people, irrespective of their political affiliations and religious denominations. So much so that they have been saying that Doda, Poonch and Rajouri are more discriminated against as co...

| | Saffron brigade is a gainer even without flag hoisting | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Jan 19: Even if the activists of the youth wing of the BJP are not allowed to enter into Jammu and Kashmir for hoisting the tricolour in Srinagar on the Republic Day the saffron brigade has gained political advantage which it could not have achieved by unfurling the national flag at Lal Chowk.
If the Government ultimately foils the BJYM plan of unfurling the national flag at Lal chowk both the ruling coalition of the National Conference and the Congress besides the Congress led Government in the centre would be held responsible for siding with the separatists and going against the nationalist forces. There lies the advantage for the BJP.
