TOP STORY OF THE DAY
CM committed offense but who cares?
Revelation of names of rape victims
10/21/2011 12:21:40 AM
Early Times Report jammu, Oct 20: Annoyance of any kind is intensely agonizing. This dictum stands fortified by puzzled Chief Minister Omar Abdullah who is passing through excruciating conditions these days. There cannot be two opinions that failure on all fronts be it his administrative spoil or family debacle has left him confused. There is no gain denying the fact that Omar is literally acting like 'Alice lost in the wonderland' and this is democratically dangerous to keep the reigns of power in the frail hands of a Chief Minister, particularly when it is the most sensitive state of Jammu and Kashmir. We all know that 'a bad workman quarrels with his own tools' & if such workman happens to be Chief Minister of state, then God only can save the state. We have not forgotten yet, though people have short memory, that he unreservedly made public the names of the Kashmiri women who are allegedly victims of outrageous sexual assaults that includes rape, gang rape etc in this strife torn state, quite oblivious of the mandate of law that it is heinous and punishable offence under sect...

Is Mehbooba 'frustrated' if she asks for justice for people…?
NC reacting harshly to PDP statements
10/21/2011 12:21:06 AM
Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 20: Bickering between two political rivals ruling NC and opposition is once again at its high with both indulging in accusations to pull each other down. The strange and ironic aspect remains that PDP is only performorming the role of an opposition party in healthy spirit, while pointing out loopholes and darwbacks in NC led dispensation, the NC is getting provoked and irked to the extent that it terms uttering's and political bashing by Mehbooba Mufti as her 'frustration'. But one wonders in what sense and what is the criteria of NC leaders in judging what it likes to 'diagnose' how and why former is conducting in 'frustrated manner'. It is no secret that...

Sewa Dal angry with Omar
10/21/2011 12:20:34 AM
Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 20: The Jammu Kashmir Sewa Dal has accused National Conference of ignoring the Congress leaders. Addressing a Press Conference here today the Sewa Dal Chief, Balwinder Singh Sambyal said Omar Abdullah was not sincere towards the coalition partner. Singh said he has not been given an opportunity to discuss the problems even as the Coalition is about to complete three years in office. If a leader of my stature is ignored what would happen to others? Sambyal has been heading the Sewa Dal for the past seven years, has served the people for 25 years and also worked for the welfare of the earthquake victims of Uri in 2005. Sambayal said the person who threw a ...

Is Law Secretary Tantray law unto himself?
Bureaucrat draws Rs 27,694 from state exchequer for attending wedding in TN
10/21/2011 12:20:19 AM
Ahmed Ali Fayyaz srinagar, Oct 20: With the opposition complaining of 'financial anarchy' in Jammu & Kashmir, a senior bureaucrat has created an embarrassing situation for Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather by attending a private marriage ceremony in Tamil Nadu and drawing entire expenditure from the state exchequer. Highly placed authoritative sources revealed to Early Times that in total violation of law, Law Secretary Ghulam Hassan Tantray today withdrew an amount of Rs 27,694 from an official account of the Department of Law on account of attending a private wedding ceremony in Tamil Nadu earlier this month. Without the sanction and approval of any financial authority, the amount of ...

In Omar's rule even a VLW humiliates a Sarpanch
Empowering Panchayats?
10/21/2011 12:19:47 AM
Early Times Report POONCH, Oct 20: The recent empowerment of Panchayats notwithstanding, a village level worker (VLW) has the gut to defy a sarpanch. A VLW in Block Bafliaz of border district Poonch on Wednesday stunned a Sarpanch by saying that there was no provision for a VLW to work under a sarpanch. As if this was not enough to embarrass the `empowered' Panches and Sarpanches that a child Development Officer of the same Block refused to meet a delegation comprising 22 Sarpanches saying they should seek prior appointment. And the woeful take did not end here. A ZEO humiliated the Sarpanches. "Do not waste my time", he said to them Reports said a Block Development Officer Bafliaz ...

10/21/2011 12:19:23 AM

Mehbooba In Fight-To-Finish Mode-II
10/21/2011 12:18:59 AM
Rustam Jammu, Oct 20: As mentioned, Mehbooba Mufti has upped the ante to ensure the collapse of the Omar Abdullah-led coalition government. There is no doubt whatever that the next few days would witness the PDP leadership raising the pitch and exposing the present government. The process has already started. What she said on Tuesday and Wednesday about Omar Abdullah and his government indicates her intentions and establishes that the battle-lines are clearly drawn. That Mehbooba Mufti has turned extremely hostile could be seen from the charges she has been leveling serious against Omar Abdullah and his government. Some of the charges include (1) Syed Mohammad Yousuf was "killed when he t...

Drawing inspiration from Maharaja Gulab Singh
Today Is A Great Day
10/21/2011 12:10:32 AM
Neha Jammu, Oct 20: October 21 is a red letters day in the political history of India. It was on this day 219 years ago that Maharaja Gulab Singh was born. Jammu was very fortunate in the sense that it saw Gulab Singh playing a splendid role in the political history of India and at a time when the princely states were crumbling one by one like any house of cards crumbles before the canny British imperialists. He not only unified and consolidated Jammu province then consisting of nearly two dozen principalities but also established his foothold in the strategic northern areas and put in all to secure the northern frontiers, the lifeline of India. He would have established his foothold in Ti...

Opposition too maintaining silence over Shah's mysterious death
10/21/2011 12:09:50 AM
Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 20: With opposition also maintaining silence over the mysterious death of Mohammed Yousf Shah a National conference activist who had made some startling revelations about cash for vote scam involving some top leaders of his party, it seems that the issue has died down for the time being. Though the People Democratic Party (PDP) the main opposition party in the state raised the issue vociferously inside the State Legislature and outside the House for a couple of days has later chosen to adopt a soft stand on the issue for unknown reasons. There is brewing public resentment among the people in the state over the mysterious death of Shah who was brought to CM's...
