Omar raises pitch on AFSPA revocation again: cannot wait for last gun to fall silent | Downplaying act: no differences between NC, Cong | | Saroj Razdan
JAMMU, Nov 9: In what can be seen as his reassertion and raising of pitch on revocation of AFSPA from 'selected' areas of the state, the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah contended there was no need to give this 'protection' in areas where Army was not actively engaged. Vouching strongly for removal of special powers to Army he said it is a difficult decision that needs courage. We cannot for last gun to fall silent, he asserted . Choosing to downplay the bickering and opposition its alliance partner Congress raised, the Chief Minister claimed there were no differences between NC and Congress over revocation intention.
" This is a difficult decision but a beginning has to be made ……we cannot wait for last gun to fall silent ………If we wait for that moment that time will never come…….
