JAMMU, NOV 20: Jammu Police have once again busted a racket of fake currency. A police team from Bus Stand Police Station led by SHO Sazid Parvez , under the supervision of SP North , Randeep Singh apprehended Kabir Ahmed, son of Gul Zaban hailing from Samir Ward No.02 Poonch, from BC Road, Jammu, and recovered fake currency notes of Rs 500 denomination to the tune of Rs 4.05 lakhs. JAMMU, NOV 20: A man, posing as a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) of Territorial Army (TA) and attempting to dupe village youths on the pretext of securing them job, was arrested in Poonch district, police sources said here today.
Identified as Mohammad Usman of Khenetar village of Poonch, the accused was impersonating himself as Subedar of 156 TA Battalion and trying to dupe local youths assuring them managing jobs in the Army.
After receiving some complaints in this regard, a counter intelligence team of police arrested Usman and recovered some documents, identity cards and Army recruitment forms from his possession, the sources said.

SRINAGAR, NOV 20: In a deviation from past convention, Jammu and Kashmir state Congress chief Saifuddin Soz has been nominated as leader of Indian goodwill Haj delegation to Mecca this year.
"Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has nominated Soz as leader of the goodwill delegation for Haj this year. He will lead a 20-member delegation for the pilgrimage tomorrow to Saudi Arabia," a spokesman of JKPCC told PTI here.
The Prime Minister has made a deviation this year from the convention as leader of the delegation is always chosen from among the Governors or Union Cabinet Ministers, the spokesman said.

Kishtwar, November 20: A grenade was thrown on Central Reserve Police Force bunker here at Gudali Chowk, Kishtwar. NEW DELHI, Nov 20: There was an increase in the number of foreign tourist to Jammu and Kashmir in 2008 over 2007, the Lok Sabha was informed today.
However, the number of domestic tourist declined by 3.5 per cent during the same period, Minister of State for Tourism Sultan Ahmed told the House in a written reply.
While the number of foreign tourist rose from 0.53 lakh in 2007 to 0.55 lakh in 2008, the number of domestic tourist declined from 79.15 lakh in 2007 to 76.39 lakh in 2008.
