4/8/2012 12:18:08 AM
Early Times Report jammu, April 7: Keeping with traditions of the party Farooq Abdullah while retaining the presidency of his party national conference , nominated his chief minister son Omar Abdullah as working president of the party. Surprisingly Farooq , who is minister of renewable energy in new Delhi, on Saturday even re-appointed his younger brother sheikh Mustafa Kamal again as additional general secretary of the party. Kamal, who MLA from Hazratbal constituency , is known for his "anti-India stance." The ailing cousin of Farooq Abdullah Sheikh Nazir would continue to hold the post of general secretary of NC besides controlling the kitty of the party. Nazir is equally known for "anti-India actions" in the past. Farooq sacked his younger brother Mustafa Kamal as additional general secretary and chief spokesman of the party when spoke against Rahul Gandhi , AICC general secretary and army during winter last. Both Farooq Abdullah and CM Omar Abdullah felt humiliated when Kamal told media that Rahul Gandhi has no role in Jammu and Kashmir and even blamed army for...

SKEWPY fails to address unemployment
Of 61144 vacancies only 20639 referred to recruiting agencies
4/8/2012 12:16:41 AM
Early Times Report Srinagar, April 7: The tall claims of the Omar Abdullah led coalition government about tackling the ever-growing unemployment problem in the state fall flat when the actual figures about implementation of much hyped SKEWPY on one hand and the number of vacancies at different levels in the government departments referred to the recruiting agencies against the total number of such vacancies in the state on the other hand belie the claims of the coalition government. Official figures essentially suggest that Sher-e-Kashmir Employment and Welfare Policy for Youth (SKEWPY) is a non-starter and it has completely failed to attract the attention of educated unemplo...

Mehbooba accuses Delhi of patronizing corrupt Omar government
4/8/2012 12:16:21 AM
Early Times Report jammu, April 7: PDP president Mehbooba Mufti has ridiculed the National Conference for accusing her party of raising useless issues in State Assembly. Countering the NC allegations at a press conference here today, Mufti said her party legislators raised the issues of public importance and concern in the two houses of state Legislature like those of Bijli and Pani which are concerning the common man of the state. Holding the coalition responsible for rampant corruption in the state, he said 5000 stone pelters were arrested in the state in 2010 and eight months back government announced amnesty for them and only 402 were chosen for release on pick and choose basis jus...

Time to confront Zardari with facts
Bilateral Talks
4/8/2012 12:15:23 AM
Rustam jammu, April 7: It is now almost clear that Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will meet tomorrow in New Delhi and hold some talks on some bilateral issues. It is also clear from what the Pakistan Foreign Office said that Islamabad would not only insist on a solution to the so-called Kashmir problem that is consistent with its age-old stand on the issue but also go on asking New Delhi to grant right to self-determination to the Muslims of Kashmir maintaining that the United Nations (UN) security Councils resolutions do provide for such a mechanism. It may be pointed that Pakistan has consistently accused New Delhi of going back on its commitment t...

Discrimination and bias in sanctioning and execution of centrally sponsored schemes in J&K
4/8/2012 12:14:54 AM
Early Times Report jammu, April 7: The districts of Leh and Doda are at the bottom as far as completion of road projects, under the PMGSY programme, is concerned. Official reports said that during the last about one decade just 17 per cent of the total road projects sanctioned for Leh district have been completed and in case of Doda district the authorities have achieved 24 per cent of the target. What seems to be amazing is that the concerned authorities have been able to complete only 29 per cent of the total road projects sanctioned in Poonch against 81 per cent in Pulwama district. Equally amazing is the bias the central Government has shown while sanctioning projects under PMGSY. Thi...

ADC stands by his report, rift widens between DC & ADC
4/8/2012 12:14:33 AM
Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Apr 7: As additional commissioner Abdul Majid Wani made it clear that he would stand by his report on alleged corruption by Kupwara DC Mohammad Shafi Rather, the rift between the two seems to have widened further. Meanwhile, Wani said he stood by his inquiry report and alleged that the DC was involved in the 'misappropriation' of funds. However, DC, Kupwara, made it clear that he had nothing personal against Wani and there were some agencies who wanted to create a void between the two. Sources said taking strong notice of the leakage of deputy commissioner's confidential letter to the chief secretary, divisional commissioner Asgar Ali Samon asked deputy co...
