| Exit polls predict a Congress rout in JK! | | | |
Kunal Shrivatsa
JAMMU, May 13: With almost all the exit polls aired on different Television News Channels on Monday predicting two to three seats to Bharatiya Janta Party and none to Congress in J&K, the grand old party of the country is facing an imminent rout in the northern most states of the country.
While the exit poll of ABP-Nielsen has given two seats each to BJP and Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP), it has projected one seat apiece for the National Conference (NC) and an independent out of the six Lok Sabha seats of the state.
The ABP-Nielsen survey's projections thus means that the Congress shall draw a blank in the two parliamentary constituencies of Jammu-Poonch and Udhampur...

SRINAGAR, May 13: Responding to Hurriyat (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani's allegations that the village heads were police informers, the Panchayat Conference has urged the hardliner to identify the persons who he believed were informers.
Terming Geelani's statement undemocratic and baseless, members of AJKPC said that village heads cannot resign en-masse as they have been elected by people for developmental activities in their respective areas and are not selected by politicians or political parties, therefore have nothing to do with politics.
"Leveling baseless allegations does not suit a person like Geelani. If he and other separatist leaders feel that there is any one ...

| | | | Will PDP join NDA to remain in the centre stage? | | | |
Neha
JAMMU, May 13: Will the PDP, which could, according to exit polls, win two seats in Jammu and Kashmir, join the likely victorious BJP-led NDA? The possibility cannot be overruled. The PDP could become part of the NDA. It appears. The reason is that the PDP leaders, including the party patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and his daughter and party president Mehbooba Mufti, unlike NC president Farooq Abdullah and his son and party president and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, didn't even once criticize the BJP and its Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi. On the contrary, both on occasions used a very soft language for the BJP. They praised Atal Behari Vajpayee and BJP-led NDA Government ...

JAMMU, May 13: The fate of the six candidates who sought election to the 16th Lok Sabha in Jammu and Kashmir will be known on May 16, the day the under-attack Election Commission will announce results. But the exit polls conducted by the various poll agencies have predicted what is in store for the political parties. All the exit polls, without any exception, have predicted a massive victory for the BJP-led NDA and doom for the Congress-led UPA. The Congress's own tally would be an all-time low. The BJP-led NDA could win seats ranging from 276 to 340 and the tally of the Congress-led UPA could be between 70 and around 130. The BJP's own tally could be between 236 and 291 and the Con...

SRINAGAR, May 13: Casting doubt over the authenticity of the exit polls which claim 'Ab ki baar, Modi Sarkar' mantra will take real shape on May 16, Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah termed these exit polls as a 'great time pass'.
"The only exit poll that matters is the one that is slated for Friday (the day Lok Sabha results will be out), the rest are all great time pass," he said on Twitter.
Omar questioned the credibility of the opinion polls in view of the vast difference between two surveys in the number of Lok Sabha seats expected to be won by parties in a particular state.
Citing the example of Rajasthan, the Chief Minister wrote: "So one channel gives C...
