Lady SPO who 'facilitated' rape is ex-minister's 'close aide'

Early Times Report jammu, May 12: The Special Police Officer, who has been arrested by police for facilitating the rape of a woman inside Khour police station, is alleged to be the 'close aide' of an ex-Congress minister, who earlier represented Khour constituency in the state assembly. She was so close to the ex-minister that she often travelled with him in the constituency. He had later got her recruited in police department as SPO (special police officer) and managed her posting at Khour police station. Her appointment order as SPO was issued by a senior police officer, police sources said. Because of her closeness with the ex-minister, she enjoyed considerable influence at the police station. Her only job as SPO was to keep the ex-minister abreast of all the happenings at the police station, sources informed. Sources said while she was now apprehended in the rape case and had been sent by court to eight-day police remand, efforts were being made to save her as the ex-minister is worried that his name might also get dragged with her arrest.
