Govt succumbs to separatists, says no separate colonies for KPs

Jehangir Rashid Early Times Report SRINAGAR, May 19: The state government has succumbed to the pressure of separatists and has even gone to the extent of holding consultations with the separatist leaders over the return and rehabilitation of migrant Kashmiri Pandits to the Valley. It became evident during the press conference addressed by the Minister for Education and the government spokesman Naeem Akhtar here today. The government spokesman said that separate colonies for Kashmiri Pandits are not possible in Kashmir and the Pandits have to live within the society. Akhtar's statement runs contrary to the recent government's assertion that separate colonies would be set up for Kashmiri Pandits who wish to return and settle down in the Kashmir valley. BharatiyaJanta Party (BJP) which is in power with Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state have been stressing that Kashmiri Pandits would be rehabilitated in separate colonies in the Kashmir valley.
