Syed Junaid Hashmi JAMMU, Oct 28: Engineers of Roads and Buildings (R&B) department who are often seen worried about their transfer and posting work unprofessionally and use ham-handed measures to complete projects assigned to them. Roads across Jammu city bear testimony to the fact that these engineers are more worried about withdrawal of bills and prefer 'Desi' methods over professional techniques for doing the jobs assigned to them. They never take the professional route and instead, keep themselves restricted to the choice and need of the contractors engaged with them, thus defeating the very purpose of being planners of all projects. Even state legislature cannot alter status of J&K
Section 147
10/28/2013 11:09:37 PM
Rustam JAMMU, Oct 28: CM Omar Abdullah & Co says that the issue of Jammu & Kashmir is still to be settled and ridicules those who say that the state is an integral part of India. He rejects their claim, saying by repeating the words "atoot ang" they cannot change the political status of Jammu & Kashmir. But the question is: Can he alter the political status of Jammu & Kashmir? He cannot. Not even the Jammu & Kashmir Legislature can change the political status of the state. It doesn't have the power to amend section 3 of the Jammu & Kashmir Constitution which, inter-alia, says "The State of Jammu & Kashmir is and shall be an integral part of the Union of India". Remember, section 3 of the...

Congress assertion wrong, misleading
Sheikh Abdullah and accession
10/28/2013 11:09:23 PM
Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 28: The Jammu & Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) on Sunday hailed the father and founder of pro-autonomy and essentially communal Sheikh Abdullah. The JKPCC said that Sheikh Abdullah played a great role in the state's accession to India. The JKPCC was only partly right. The then Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru did accept the Maharaja's offer of accession when Sheikh Abdullah, who had no locus standi in the matter, gave his consent. Actually, Nehru violated the Indian Independence Act when he associated Sheikh Abdullah with the event in the sense that the Act categorically said that the political future of the princely states will be decided by...
