RS PURA (JAMMU), Nov 25: Rakesh Giri -- a contract killer in police records -- and whom police shot dead Sunday last in an "encounter" near Satyam Resorts here lived in a one-room house in ward No 4 at RS Pura.
The doors and windows of the room are broken, its walls are in a bad state of repair and its roof is leaking. In the name of property, Giri's family has a faulty ceiling fan, few old and torn bedsheets, a stove and some utensils. The family lives from hand to mouth.
After his killing in encounter, police claimed he was a supari killer and committed murders in lieu of big amounts of money.
Had it been so, he would have at least made his and his family's living conditions better.
Police also linked Nagar Singh alias Nago with the incident, alleging that Giri had taken supari from him to kill ex-MLC Depinder Kour and other witnesses in the Amandeep murder case.

CHANDIGARH, Nov 25: Hurriyat Conference leaders Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Bilal Lone were today manhandled allegedly by activists of right-wing Hindu organisations and Kashmiri Pandits at a seminar here after which police detained ten people.
Commotion broke out when the activists from among the audience charged at Mirwaiz, who was seated on the dais along with Lone. At that time, a person, believed to be a journalist, had got up to put a question to the Mirwaiz.

UDHAMPUR, Nov 25: An inebriated man allegedly murdered his wife with a sharp-edged weapon at their residence at Pathwar in Majalta here today. Police sources said Rashpal Singh often beat up his wife Kailasho Devi under the influence of liquor.
