TOP STORY OF THE DAY
Geelani hits back on Farooq, calls him, his family and party 'traitors'
'NC responsible for 1947, 1975, 1996 and 2008 treasons'
12/7/2010 12:20:22 AM
Ahmed Ali Fayyaz EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, Dec 6: Hurriyat hawk Syed Ali Shah Geelani today made a counter scathing attack on the National Conference supremo Dr Farooq Abdullah and dismissed him, his entire dynasty and political party (NC) as the "real traitors and backstabbers of Kashmiris". He claimed that Jammu & Kashmir would not have been under "Indian occupation" today if Sheikh Abdullah, his progeny and NC would not have stood by New Delhi during the defining moments in 1947, 1975, 1996 and 2008. In his fiery reaction to the speeches delivered by the NC top brass at Sheikh Abdullah's mausoleum at Hazratbal on Sunday, Geelani held Dr Farooq Abdullah, his dynasty and party responsible for Jammu & Kashmir's miseries and political uncertainty over the last 63 years. He asserted that simply for his hegemony and New Delhi's good humour, Sheikh Abdullah converted the Muslim Conference into the secular National Conference in 1938. According to Geelani, Sheikh and his party "backstabbed" the Kashmiris way of strengthening "Indian military occupation" in J&K in 1947 when they rat...

12/7/2010 12:19:36 AM

Omar is leader of LA, Rather leader of opposition!
JK's official website is off the net
12/7/2010 12:19:23 AM
EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec 6: Omar Abdullah is the leader of the Legislative Assembly and Abdul Rahim Rather is the leader of opposition. A website legislativebodiesinindia.nic.in/J&K.htm gives this misinformation. The website does not furnish the name of the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs. And, the secretary of the house, according to the website is an additional secretary. Not to speak of giving a complete profile of the members of the assembly (MLAs), the website takes one back to the era when Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Congress ruled the state. Some persons who failed to make it to the house in 2008 elections still exist as members of the house. This means the departm...

Mr Health Minister, rhetoric will not do, definite action is needed
Separate Jammu State
12/7/2010 12:18:54 AM
RUSTAM EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec 6: Minister for Health and Horticulture Sham Lal Sharma deserves kudos for what he said at Bani on Sunday while addressing a Congress rally in the presence of JKPCC chief Saif-ud-Soz and several other senior party leaders. What he said was the need of the time and what he said needs to be given an effect to forthwith. To mark time would be to cause more damage to Jammu and its people, who have been suffering at all levels and in each sphere ever since Jawaharlal Nehru got the political power transferred from Jammu to Kashmir using questionable means or by throwing all the democratic norms to the wind. It is an irony that Jammu, which ruled over Kashmi...

EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec 6: Yesterday was a great day in the otherwise unfortunate State of Jammu and Kashmir.
