‘Arbitrary arrests not consistent with norms of civilized govt’ Saroj Razdan Jammu: Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh today said no individual or any group can veto the dialogue process or its outcome in J&K even as he welcomed cooperation and contribution of all hues including those not part of mainstream politics. Dr Singh maintained it was ‘eternal hope’ that separatists will come forth for talks and become a part of the process aimed at finding solution to the Kashmir problem. “ I do not think any body or any group can veto this process or the outcome of the ongoing dialogue process……..I believe J&K’s future is bright and those who have not become a part of national mainstream would find it beneficial and mutually productive as well as constructive the way of solving the problem”, Prime Minister said while responding to the queries of media before leaving for New Delhi this evening at the Technical Airport. Jammu: The Prime Minister who was quiet on the controversy that enveloped appointment of Central Vigilance Commissioner PJ Thomas, today broke his silence and said he accepted the responsibility for the same. However, he ruled out there were any coalition compulsions as far as his appointment was concerned. Sumit Sharma Early Times Report DODA, Mar 4: After 21 years, a Doda resident, who had crossed over to Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) surrendered before police in Doda along with his wife and three kids. Police sources said that Mohammad Iqbal Shinali son of Bashir Ahmed Shinali of Doda crossed over to POK on November 18, 1990 for arms training and today all of sudden, he surrendered before the police in Doda along with his family which includes his wife and three children. Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 4: Even as the government intends to invoke Public Safety Act (PSA) on land grabbers, a broker has encroached upon government land measuring 6 kannals and 14 marlas at Magarmal Bagh, just half a kilometer from Lal Chowk, Srinagar. The piece of land was given on lease by Maharaja Hari Singh to Major Rai Bahadur Thapa. The Divisional Commissioner’s office has passed several orders to prevent grab of the prized land by unscrupulous elements but nobody seems to heed the orders.
