JK rides political storm
NC all set to cash on Singh's statement on Art 370
5/28/2014 11:37:06 PM
Javaid Naikoo SRINAGAR, May 28: Dr Jitendra Singh's statement on Article 370 has given NC something to sell to the people to regain lost ground. After registering protest on streets today, the NC held a meeting of the core group to discuss the statement which NC believes is a backdoor strategy of the BJP Government. Interestingly the BJP leadership has not reacted on the statement so far. Hours after Dr Jitendra Singh raised a huge political storm by seeking a debate on the future of Article 370, Singh though later in the evening on Tuesday said that he had been "misquoted." He said that the entire controversy was baseless and added that "I seek to clarify that the reports in the media about my statement on Article 370 are misquoted. I have never said anything quoting the Honorable Prime Minister and the controversy is totally baseless. Pertinently besides rebuttal of Singh, no statement from any other BJP office bearer was issued in this connection, yet according to sources after facing rout in recently conducted Parliamentary elections, NC is using all means and methods to regai...

"BJP polarizing state for winning Assembly elections"
5/28/2014 11:36:47 PM
Rustam JAMMU, May 28: It was expected that the comprehensive defeat the Congress suffered across the country, including Jammu and Kashmir, would make its leadership sit up to examine the circumstances leading to its very poor performance, but it has not happened. On the contrary, it has thought it fit to pursue the same old "secular" line to remain in some limelight or in the news. How else should one interpret the Congress spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi's today statement that the BJP has raked up the issue of Article 370 to politicize it and polarize the society in Jammu and Kashmir? His statement that the BJP raked up the issue of Article 370 to politicize it and polarize the socie...

J&K is not Omar's parental estate: RSS
5/28/2014 11:36:37 PM
Neha JAMMU, May 28: The RSS has reacted very sharply to the provocative and divisive statement that J&K will go out of India and the people of the state will be further alienated from the national mainstream if Article 370 is repealed. Article 370 is a temporary provision and was adopted by the Indian Constituent Assembly way back in the late 1940s at the behest of Sheikh Abdullah, grandfather of Omar Abdullah. And the discredit for the incorporation of Article 370 in the Indian Constitution goes to Jawaharlal Nehru, who, like the Sheikh and similar other Kashmiri leaders, considered J&K not an integral part of India to the same extent as other states of the Union and whose whole approach ...

5/28/2014 11:35:14 PM
Avinash Azad JAMMU, May 28: The phrase "Just below the lantern lies the darkness" seems apt for techno savvy Chief Minister Omar Abdullah who is least bothered about e-functioning of the departments headed by him and his colleagues, as the website of Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Department has shown wrong information, while PWD (R&B) website is not updated. `It will lead to food scarcity'
5/28/2014 11:04:18 PM
Shakeel A Khan, Srinagar, May 28: With the government in slumber, the transformation of paddy fields etc into orchards is taking place at a tremendous pace. If it goes on like this, as the people are in a mood to change their profession, then it is for sure that the future generations will face food scarcity. Not only this, the agricultural land is squeezing on account of constructions which are being raised on it. This way we are axing our feet.
