| | Consumers in J&K worried over dismal performance of BSNL, shift to private agencies | | | Early Times Report

| | Gen Singh unlikely to oblige Omar by withdrawing troops | Singh & Singh | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 10: When Gen Bikram Singh replaced Gen VK Singh as Army chief on June 1, 2010, there were reports in a section of print media, including India Today (May 14, 2012), that former might oblige elements in the Indian political establishment by endorsing the Pakistani suggestion seeking demilitarization of the strategic Siachen Glacier where the Indian Army is holding the Indian flag high since 1984. For example, the operative part of the cover story "Blood Politics On Siachen" read like this: "As his tenure inches an inglorious finale, Manmohan Singh is desperate for a peace trophy, even if it means a Siachen sellout. But he has to win his own Army first, headed ...

| | Abrogation of article 370: how serious is Advani? | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 10: BJP leader LK Advani yesterday reiterated his party's stand for the scrapping of Article 370 to take forward the integration process of Kashmir with India. But the question is when BJP was in power at the Centre, why did it not take steps to abolish it?
Like him, many other BJP stalwarts in New Delhi and in the State have been demanding the scrapping of Article 370 of the Indian Constitution which grants special status to J&K.
The fact is that for BJP and some other political parties, the Article has become a feeding ground. They exploit the issue when they do not have any other issue. In its national election manifesto, BJP had stated that if it was vo...
| | Army gives enough sign against AFSPA revocation | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 10: ET stands vindicated with the recent statement of Army that there will not put troops pull out from the valley clearly implying that it's in no mood to oblige State Government by giving its assent on even partial revocation of AFSPA.
ET had first reported that Army has turned down the request of the Omar Abdullah for partial revocation of Armed Forces Special Power Act (AFSPA) from two districts of Jammu and Srinagar.
The denial of the Army about troops pull out and adding that it wasn't even under consideration shows that Army doesn't want to give away the advantage it has achieved after years of relentless pressure on terrorists and also by giving sac...
