STARK REALITY
RUSTAM
JAMMU, Sep 2:Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has decided to take cudgels with New Delhi to force it to review its stand on the dreaded Kashmiri terrorist Afzal Guru, who along with other terrorists, planned and executed the greatest onslaught on Indian democracy. They had attacked the temple of Indian democracy, the Parliament, and their objective was to liquidate the Indian leadership and create lawlessness and anarchy in the country. They failed to accomplish their evil design. For, our alert and watchful security forces frustrated their design and in the process the nation lost seven precious lives. The Indian judiciary has pronounced Guru guilt and awarded his death sentence.
The Union Government, which dragged its feet for years for the sake of vote-bank politics, finally knelt and sent the file to the President of India with the note that the clemency petition of Guru should be rejected in the interest of the rule of law. The President of India can clear the file anytime and once it happens, Guru would be hanged till death. It is this decision of the Uni... | |
