One year on, Project officers fail to complete surveys for UPAP scheme | HUDD issues warnings to withhold increment/promotion | | Akshay Azad

Jammu, Dec 15: The District Project Officers (DPOs) of Housing and Urban Development Department (H&UDD) have reportedly failed to complete surveys for implementation of a centrally sponsored scheme, in the last one year. Infuriated over the failure, the HUDD authorities have reprimanded these officers and warned them of withholding their increment/promotion.
Sources informed Early Times that for the implementation of Urban Poverty Alleviation Programme (UPAP) in Jammu and Kashmir, the HUDD had initiated surveys for identification of urban poor in various districts of state. The District Urban Development Agencies (DUDA) were assigned the job to complete the surveys, but it has been reported that after the lapse of nearly one year, the DUDA failed to do the needful despite repeated reminders by the department.

Jammu, Dec 15: State Vigilance Organisation (SVO) is likely to investigate allegations of purchase of sports equipments and other allied accessories at exorbitant rates by Physical Education department of University of Jammu.
Sources said that an RTI activist has filed a written complaint with State Vigilance Organisation (SVO) alleging therein several wrongs committed by Physical Education department of University during the last 5 years. SRINAGAR, Dec 15: Relief and rehabilitation for the flood affected people across the state is all set to get derailed as the Public Service Commission (PSC) has announced the schedule for departmental examination in the Revenue department.

Jammu Dec 15: Due to the differences between Leighton, an Australian company, and IL&FS, the work on the prestigious Chenani-Nashri tunnel has come to a standstill. The work was stopped over a month back due to non-payment by IL&FS. As per sources, there was an agreement between the Leighton company and IL&FS to complete this prestigious tunnel between Chenani on one side and Nashri on the other side. The tunnel is about 9 km in length.
This agreement was later changed into BOOT (Build Own Operate Transfer) without deleting the clause in the previous agreement.
