The Governor’s administration tried to persuade the employees that it was helpless due to prevailing Model Code of Conduct but the employees went ahead with what they described as “show of unity”. Though all employees had turned up to their offices to mark attendance but no work was transacted. IAS, IPS and IFS officers attended their offices but could not any work in absence of the subordinate staff. From Maleogaon to Kashmir
11/21/2008 12:45:07 AM
EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 20: Right in the middle of elections, investigations in Malegaon blasts and subsequent arrests of a Sadhvi, a Seer and a Soldier are influencing the political temperatures in Jammu and Kashmir. Latest to fall in the murky ring is National Conference President Omar Abdullah whose photo with Malegaon blasts mastermind Dayanand Pandey (the self style Seer) was today circulated to Srinagar press by Peoples Democratic Party leader and former Finance Minister Tariq Hameed Karra. The charge has been vehemently denied by Omar who instead threatened to sue PDP for defamation but nevertheless it has made quite an interesting poll-time debate in Kashmir. Earlier on ...

Four constituencies of Rajouri district, despite hilly terrain and adverse weather, are likely to register even a higher poll percentage than the neighbouring Poonch district which saw an average turnout of 70 per cent in first phase on November 17. Huge poll percentage in Poonch district was primarily due to keen contest between candidates which is emerging even much keener in Rajouri district. Ganderbal holds hope to Omar
‘Test me for six years; in 2002 you rejected without trial’
11/21/2008 12:11:50 AM
EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, Nov 20: What US President-elect Barack Obama underlined on victory was the message from Ganderbal constituency of central Kashmir in 2002 –the change at last. Emerging as an epicenter of change, Ganderbal constituency did two things six years back: it restored the public confidence in democracy that they can elect a representative of their choice and made the Abdullah dynasty to take a break, rather “power break”. Omar Abdullah lost to a little known minion called Qazi Mohammad Afzal. Six years later, Omar is back to Ganderbal with apologies and promises. Two days are left for the battle in this high profile constituency which goes to polls on November 23 i...

However, an ‘unrest’ is prevailing over the campus following ‘inside’ reports that a Professor from Haryana is being appointed as next Vice Chancellor of Jammu University. Some students’ organizations enforced a sort of shut down in the campus resenting any move of appointing an outsider as JU Chancellor. Even as the teaching and non-teaching organizations as well as some student bodies of the Jammu University have been making appeals eve...
