Issue alive, last word yet to be spoken: Cong | Rotational Chief Minister | | Syed Junaid Hashmi
JAMMU, Nov 5: In complete contrast to Abhishekh Manu Singhvi's 'full term' assurance to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Congress leaders close to 10-Janpath today reiterated that till the last word on the issue of rotational Chief Ministership is not said, it would remain as contentious an issue as it is presently.
"When i said last word is yet to be said, it leaves open space for speculation. So, I see no surprise in our spokesman Abhishekh Singhvi's or J&K Incharge Mohan Prakash's assurance to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. They have to adhere to party discipline and speak about rotational Chief Ministership issue only when 'appropriate time' comes," said a Congress stalwart in New Delhi, currently regarded as one of the closet friend of National Conference (NC) in AICC, while talking exclusively to Early Times. He sought anonymity, citing party discipline.
Calling Chief Minister Omar Abdullah honest, upright and sincere, he said that politics demands too much from an individual, especially in Jammu and Kashmir where governance is not as easy as it is in other...

Why is Omar Abdullah bent on experiments with security? | | | Early Times Report
panaji, Nov 5: Even before the final call on AFSPA is taken by the unified headquarters and the State cabinet, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday said there was always scope for reimposition of AFSPA if things became difficult after its withdrawal from certain areas of the state.
It is strange that someone entrusted with the safety and security of the people in the State should be thinking in terms of experimentation with a highly sensitive issue like this!
He said his stand on AFSPA should not be mistaken as a support to pulling the army out from critical areas of the state or from the Line of Control.
"I am not for a moment supporting or sug...
| | Indian war machine fighting Pak-sponsored low-intensity proxy war splendidly | Revoking AFSPA | | Rustam
Jammu, Nov 5: The Indian war machine has been fighting splendidly the Pakistan-sponsored low-intensity proxy war in Kashmir since 1989. In the process, thousands of our dedicated and committed soldiers laid down their precious lives for the cause of the country fighting against Pakistan trained, indoctrinated and abetted dreaded terrorists and the process continues. We continue to receive body bags from the war zone. The proxy war which Pakistan launched against India to bleed and break it in the late 1980s continues unabated. In between, Pakistan set up dozens of terrorist-training camps on its own soil as well as Pakistan-occupied-Jammu and Kashmir.
According to the Army and inte...
| | HC stays new recruitment policy | | | Early Times Report
srinagar, Nov 5: The new recruitment policy announced by the state government was stayed by the High Court on Saturday.
The order was passed by Justice Hasnain Masoodi in the writ petition filed by one Ghulam Nabi Dar of Hazrtbal against the state. While admitting the petition, Justice Masoodi asked the government to file its objections within three weeks. Advocate Jehangir Ganie appeared on behalf of the petitioner while Advocate General Mohammad Ishaq Qadri appeared on behalf of the state.
Advocate General said that the petitioner has challenged the government order on the grounds that it 'violates his fundamental rights and is discriminatory and unreasonable.' After...

| | Why is Sheikh Nazir silent? | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 5: While National Conference is on boil, the veteran leader and General Secretary, Sheikh Nazir has preferred to remain mum for unknown reasons. Nazir woke up after more than three decades of hibernation two years ago to `give a separatist face' to the National Conference. He was seen kicking off NC membership drive from Budgam. For the first time in his political career, he was seen in political and social functions. But he has been conspicuous by his absence during the past one month when NC is in real trouble.
Sheikh Nazir is known for his `separatist' tendencies. Barring 2009 air trip to New Delhi for treatment, he has never travelled by Indian Airlines ...
| | Divide between NC & Congress complete | Ending Uncertainty | | Neha
Jammu, Nov 5: The divide between the two coalition partners NC and Congress is almost complete. True, the JKPCC president Prof Saif-ud-Din has softened his stand saying everyone now talks of consensus on the AFSPA row. Also true, the cornered and isolated Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has eaten his words and sought to end the controversy by saying that what he hinted at on October 21 was only his "intention" and "not decision", thus giving the people to understand that nobody should take him and his suggestions seriously. It is obvious that certain elements in the Congress high command and the NC have played some role to make the JKPCC president and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah hold th...
