SKUAST refuses to grant prosecution sanction of six top officials | Raj Bhawan, state govt both maintain discreet silence! 'Chairman of all committees was not qualified to head them' | | Syed Junaid Hashmi
JAMMU, Dec 4: Raj Bhawan as well as state government have both maintained discreet silence over the refusal of management of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agriculture Science and Technology (SKUAST) to grant sanction for prosecution of six top officials, whose names also figure in Challan of State Vigilance Organization (SVO).
Not only has the sanction been denied but the management of University has staunchly defended its decision of not granting sanction for prosecution of these six top officials, all of whom are allegedly politically as well as administratively well-connected. SVO has named 15 persons as accused in its un-bifurcated Challan in the infamous financial embezzlements as well as recruitments scam, which allegedly took place in SKUAST during 2007-08 when Dr. Nagender Sharma was the vice-chancellor.
Interestingly, SKUAST has allowed SVO to initiate persecution proceedings against middle and lower rung officials, who were members of different committees but denied the same for five top officials including the man heading these committees.

| | CM's loud talk proves to be rhetoric, 'bureaucratic laxity' never questioned | Retrieving power projects from NHPC | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 4: The worry of the Omar Abdullah led coalition government over huge losses incurred by the state on account of power purchases may be for real but it is only reflected as rhetoric through verbal statements . Despite its 'avowed' intentions nothing has been done so far to retrieve and compensate some losses by making NHPC to adhere to the basic commitments made in successive agreements with the state , thanks to our ever complacent and unconcerned bureaucrats who have yet to make any movement forward and 'realise' what people have been given to understand by the present dispensation.

| | Abdullahs' dangerous duplicity at work | NC Leadership | | Neha
JAMMU, Dec 4: The duplicity is glaringly manifest in the positions taken by CM Omar Abdullah and NC president Union Minister Farooq Abdullah in recent times, especially when the intra-family and intra-party feuds have popped up into the public arena and the concerted campaign by the ruling NC against AFPSA and Army is on. Omar wants the Centre and the people at large in rest of India to believe that his uncle Mustafa Kamaal has gone berserk due to power ambitions and for these reasons is taking a public line which is radical, communal and pro-separatist. At the same, time Omar wants all of us to believe that his pro-separatist, pro-Geelani policies and attack on AFPSA is essentially ...

JAMMU, Dec 4: The nature of divide between Jammu and Kashmir could be determined from the contradictory and mutually exclusive perceptions and attitudes of the Bar Association, Jammu, (BAJ) and Kashmir High Court Bar Association (KHCBA), the two principal associations of lawyers. The BAJ stands for the state's complete merger into India, national unity and integrity, incorporation of the word "secularism" in the preamble of the state constitution, retention of the AFSPA, adequate powers to the Army and paramilitary forces involved in counter-insurgency operations and empowerment of Jammu province. | | If every day were December 5!
Jammu: One hundred and six years ago, Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah was born in a village (Soura) near Srinagar. He died in 1981. Since then the National Conference observes his birth anniversary with enthusiastically. In the yester years the celebrations would remain confined to a function at his graveyard. But Omar Abdullah has made it a point to lay foundation stones of various projects on this very day. A locality where Omar Abdullah is scheduled to inaugurate a fountain tomorrow (December 5) got a facelift today. A commoner made a sarcastic comment. "If every day were December 5, the state would develop fast."
