JAMMU, Feb 25: Leh-Ladakh has bid good bye to the last symbol of government of Jammu and Kashmir on its soil and adopted a new official logo.
Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) passed a resolution moved by a congress man in one voice to adopt a new logo based on national emblem of India. In the new logo adopted by LAHDC in its general council on February 21, 2011; while leaves alongwith rising sun and mountains in the background are intact, central portion has been replaced with lion capital of Ashoka from Sarnath, the National Emblem.
The development is significant and if political forces in Leh-Ladakh are to be believed, this is first step towards the achievement of union territory status. Leh has already not been using state flag of J&K. The new logo will now be permanent feature of Ladakh administration and according to some members of LAHDC; it would be put in operation once the work which is still going on it is complete.

SRINAGAR, Feb 25: Mr Justice Hasnain Masoodi of Jammu & Kashmir High Court has stayed operation of the selection of 55 Veterinary Assistant Surgeons as conducted and later issued by Jammu & Kashmir Public Service Commission (PSC) on February 17th. Issuing notices returnable within two weeks to the respondent PSC, Mr Justice Masoodi ordered:
“In the meantime, having regard to the averments set out in the petition, coupled with submissions made at bar, selection list of Veterinary Assistant S in Animal/ Sheep Husbandry Department, shall not be acted upon till next date of hearing before the Bench”.

Police sources said Rajesh Anand, owner of Sai Jewellers, was working in his shop in sector B of Sainik Colony when he received a phone call on his landline number in the afternoon.
The caller told him that one Salotra, who owned a kiryana shop in his neighbourhood, had sustained critically injuries in a road accident and was struggling for life in the GMC hospital.

JAMMU Feb 25: The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway was reopened for traffic today after remaining closed for a day due to heavy snowfall and rains.
“The highway was reopened for traffic around 0800 hours after snow was cleared,” traffic officials said.
However, only light and medium vehicles will be allowed to ply on the highway, which connects Kashmir Valley with the rest of the country.
Snowfall round the Jawahar Tunnel and higher reaches of Pir Panjal mountain range has rendered the highway slippery following which the traffic was stopped.
