BJP, NPP register protest ,boycott Governor’s address | BJP walkout on ‘Tiranga’ issue, Panthers stage dharna against ‘misgovernance’ | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 28: The first day of Budget session in J&K Assembly was marked by protest registered by Opposition minus PDP against the coalition government albeit on different issues. The legislators of BJP, J&K National Panthers Party and Jammu State Morcha boycotted Governor NN Vohra’s joint address to the Legislature. BJP raised the issue of ‘insult’ to national tricolour during Tiranga Yatra inside the Central Hall and staged walkout while PP members staged dharna outside the complex. The main opposition party, however maintained ‘unusual’ calm and silence during the Governor’s address.
As the members of both Upper House and Assembly started converging in the Central Hall for attending the joint address on the opening day, a customary practice, the lull was broken by the BJP members who entered while raising slogans like Vande Matram……Bharat Mata Ki Jai……The saffron brigade had in fact done up perfectly for the protest as all the 11 members were seen wearing tricolour bands not only on their heads but also sported the national flags around their chests.
