| | Media boycott: PDP showed creative mind; BJP, Panthers did lip service | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 29: The three day media boycott, which ended on Wednesday after clarifaction by the Speaker has exposed certain hardfacts about the deeds and actions of the political parties.
Except PDP, seen as Kashmir centric party, no other political parties, especially Jammu region based, where the boycott was being taking place, took a strong and hard stand in support of media fraternity.
PDP was the only party which moved an adjournment motion on issue though it was not accepted. The same party had earlier moved an adjournment motion on the issue of corruption.
The moving of adjournment motion, which as per rules is moved when the matter is utmost public interest or...

Jammu, Feb 29: The recent stand off between the media fraternity and Speaker for the three days have virtually put the Jammu Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) sp called proponent of Jammu's cause completely aside when it utterly failed to take up the issue in its real spirits.
Prof Bhim Singh led JKNPP had never missed an opportunity to boast of championing the cause of Jammu region and its people but his actions hardly match with party's tall claims of only party to raise Jammu's cause.
Be it, Central University Jammu (CUJ) row or PRC Disqualification issue or the refugees' issue or be it the issue of the unemployment among youths, the party now a...
| | Omar needs to learn from Mufti art of disarming critics with a hug | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 29: Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, has said that he is not as good a media manager as has been the PDP patron, Mufti Mohd. Sayeed. It is a statement which is 100 per cent correct. Omar goes on to add that he cannot be a good media manager like the Mufti because he (Omar) does not have the talent for hosting sumptuous lunches and dinners where mediamen are entertained with tasty and dainty dishes. This is incorrect.
By claiming that the Mufti's good PR work is the outcome of his art of throwing lavish luncheons and dinners for the mediamen Omar has not as much berated the PDP patron as much he has tried to soil the image of mediamen. If his brief statement on ...

| | Left to NC it would not mind gagging media | Revisiting 1952 -- II | | Rustam
Jammu, Feb 29: The February 27 Mehbooba Mufti's statement that "the National Conference (NC) has the history of gagging those exposing its misdeeds" was not based on heresy. It was based on hard facts. The NC was hostile to the Press in the 1950s and it is hostile even today.
Take, for example, what happened in Jammu in 1952 and what the then Sheikh Abdullah-led government did. (The Sheikh had formed the government in 1951 after rigging elections wholesale. His administration had rejected the nomination papers of almost all the candidates seeking election to the Constituent-cum-Legislative Assembly. The then Indian Prime Minister and enemy number one of Maharaja Hari Singh, Jawahar...
| | Jammu's changing attitude towards Cong | Discrimination The Reason | | Neha
Jammu, Feb 29: The Congress party's support-base is dwindling in Jammu by the day because the people are fed up of its discriminatory policies, as also because it is sharing power with a party which is known for its bias against them. Actually, the Congress party would have bitten dust in 2008 itself, but it captured 13 seats because of the follies of the BJP, and even of the Panthers Party (NPP). The Congress captured as many as 7 seats in the Muslim-dominated assembly constituencies, located in the erstwhile Doda district, Poonch, Rajouri and Reasi districts. The Congress won 5 out of 6 seats in the erstwhile Doda district -- 4 Muslim-dominated constituencies and 1 Hindu-majority co...
