Ahmed Ali Fayyaz SRINAGAR, Apr 8: In a major politico-religious assassination in Kashmir, Jamiat Ahl-e-Hadith chief, Maulana Shaukat Ahmed Shah, was killed today in a low-intensity IED blast when he was walking into a mosque at Maisuma to participate in the routine Friday congregational prayers. This is first time in the last 22 years of armed strife that a prominent cleric has been eliminated at a mosque in a Pakistani-style bomb blast but Shah’s assassination comes in a series of politico-religious killings after Mirwaiz Maulvi Mohammad Farooq, Qazi Nisar Ahmed and Professor Mohammad Ramzan. SSP Srinagar, Syed Ashiq Hussain Bukhari, told Early Times that 55-year-old Maulana Shaukat reached Maisuma to participate in the routine weekly congregational prayers at Markazi Jamia Masjid of Jamiat Ahl-e-Hadith Kashmir at around 1230 hours today. As he was stepping into the mosque from a rear entrance in a narrow alley, a medium intensity blast occurred that left the cleric critically wounded. Early Times Report Jammu/April 9 After submission of closure report twice, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) finally booked and challaned a former Major General and two owners of flour mills for allegedly being in nexus and causing loss worth 4.5 Cr to the state exchequer. The challans were produced on the order of Special Judge Anti-corruption, Mr AK Kaul. Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 8: The Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah happened to be the first person to confirm the death of Jamiat-e-Ahli Hadees President, Moulana Showkat Shah in a landmine blast at Gawkadal (Maisuma) today. Omar instantly tweeted, "Maulana Showkat, head of the Jamat-i-Ahle Hadees has been killed in a blast in Srinagar. Will cool heads prevail? I pray they do". EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Apr 08: A CRPF cop was today apprehended by police for allegedly withdrawing Rs 3.65 lakh from a Super Market SBI ATM here using card of someone else.Police sources said CRPF cop S K Rao, who at present was posted at Bantalab near here, was a regular visitor to the Super Market SBI ATM. He was under surveillance for the past three months when a complaint of fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 1 lakh from the ATM was lodged by a pensioner woman with City police station. Police sources said Arvind Soni of Mangalpur, Uttar Pradesh, wanted to get rid of his wife Shobha Devi as he loved another woman.He wanted to marry his lover, whom sources identified as Shobha alias Shallu.
