Draft proposal ready' | J&K's plan finalization by May end, WG meeting on May 23 | | Syed Junaid Hashmi
JAMMU, May 8: In complete contrast to certain media reports, Annual plan for the year 2011-12 for Jammu and Kashmir is likely to be finalized when a high level team, headed by the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, from the state will meet Planning Commission in the union capital in the last week of May.
Sources said that a high-level team, comprising of chief minister Omar Abdullah, finance minister Abdul Rahim Rather, economic advisor Jalil Ahmed Khan and administrative secretaries of planning and finance departments will leave for union capital on May 28 and hold the meeting tentatively on May 29. "They are scheduled to meet Deputy Chairman of Planning Commission Montek Singh Ahluwalia on March 29 for finalizing state's annual plan," said the sources.
Ahead of this crucial meeting on tentatively on May 29, sources in the planning commission said that working group discussions over Rs. 6600 crore plan proposals of Jammu and Kashmir would be held on May 23. Darbar opens today amid tight security | | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, May 8: The Darbar is scheduled to open here amid tight security. The secretariat building and the adjoining roads have already received a face lift to welcome the Darbar.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and his ministerial colleagues are all expected to reach Srinagar on the opening day of the durbar. The offices would be thrown open after welcoming the Chief Minister in the portico of the civil secretariat followed by customary guard of honour. JAMMU, May 8: Veteran journalist, O N Koul, breathed his last in Delhi Sunday morning following a brief illness. Koul, 74, is survived by his wife, Makhani Koul, and three daughters. He served as media advisor to Jammu and Kashmir government. Born on January 6, 1937 in Srinagar, Koul did his graduation from Kashmir University and MA in Economics from Delhi School of Economics.
He started his career as a teacher with Rajasthan University and later resigned to join journalism in the Valley. He joined Kashmir Post, one of the oldest tabloid newspaper in J&K and later Economic Times as special correspondent and reported for it from Jammu and Kashmir for two decades.
