Decks have been cleared for the formal launch of Chief Secretary BR Kundal in the politics and in a major political development there is all possibility of his induction into the state cabinet on Monday.
Highly placed sources told EARLY TIMES that Kundal is all set to submit his resignation on Monday and the same evening he may make way into the state cabinet. Despite repeated attempts Kundal could not be reached for his comments while officials at Rab Bhawan as well as Civil Secretariat confirmed the development.
A meeting of the state cabinet is slated to be held in Srinagar on Monday at 10 AM where the resignation of BR Kundal is likely to be taken up, said the sources. When contacted a source in the government confirmed the cabinet meeting schedule but he feigned ignorance about Kundal's resignation.
A 1972 batch IAS officer, Kundal had taken over as Chief Secretary in October last year and he is due to retire in February 2009. If all goes well as reported by the sources, on event of Kundal's induction into cabinet, the next senior office... | |

The dual currency is not only slogan as the Pakistani currency notes have made inroads into the political body of Kashmir Valley –a report vehemently denied by the Peoples Democratic Party. Surprising all, the BJP today alleged that the PDP hands were circulating the Pakistani currency notes in the Valley in forms of garlands. "PDP workers garland their leaders with Pakistani currency notes during public meetings in the Valley", said BJP spokesman Prof Hari Om.
