JAMMU, June 20: The penetrating of militants in J&K police Force with the recent unearthing of Hizbul Mujahideen and some cops nexus is an eye opener for the State Government especially Chief Minister Omar Abdullah who is boasting of returning normalcy to trouble-torn Valley of Kashmir and is strongly advocating for revocation of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA).
The penetrating of militants especially deadly Hizbul Mujihedeen outfit in J&K Police Force is heartening and it sounds an alarm that militants were neither down nor out in Kashmir Valley and those who were claiming that militancy has been completely wiped out were in a delusion.

| | senior leaders in Soz camp unlikely to figure in restructured PCC | Prospects blocked by rival faction....? | | early times report
Jammu, June 20: The scene with faction ridden J&K Pradesh Congress Committee may be quiet at present but it is surely not suggestive of 'all is well' with the organization. In what can be deciphered this as lull before the storm, the state unit of Congress is all set to see some 'heads rolling' , a development that is likely to push it further to one more extreme brink of factionalism.
Sources said even though the party leadership has attributed delay in announcing the new, restructured PCC for the state to high command's priorities this time in settling issues pertaining to Presidential polls scheduled next month, there are certain hicuups on account of reservat...
| | Headless Power Ministry forces endless suffering | | | early times report
Jammu, June 20: The seriousness of the State government in handling severe power crisis being faced by the people of Jammu can by analysed by the fact that it doesn't have power minister to look after the affairs of the department.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is heading the department since 2008. In addition to holding education and R&B ministries, by divesting Congress ministers of their respective portfolios, Omar Abdullah is holding 10 ministries.
In the absence of the permanent and separate power minister, department is made to run on auto-pilot mode, at the whims and fancies of bureaucrats.
It has resulted in policy paralysis as no major decisions have been ...

| | Kashmir Politics-story of dynastic, tragic successions | | | Bashir Assad
Srinagar, June20: One may differ with politics and political ideology of Sajad Gani Lone, chairman People's Conference but as for his intellectual acumen is concerned, perhaps he is having greater degree of understanding of Kashmir politics.
Very recently while announcing the formation of students wing of People's Conference, Lone offered a very wonderful explanation to the political spectrum in Kashmir. Though Early Times has, more than once, articulated that politics in Kashmir is circumstantial besides being dynastical and the politicians across the divide were products of circumstances, Sajad who himself is a circumstantial politician, told reporters that Kash...

| | Does Jammu University Vice-Chancellor know? | 'Seditionists' Enjoying Official Position | | early times report
Jammu, June 20: The University of Jammu was a great centre of learning not so-long-ago. Things deteriorated when the BJP-led NDA Government planted the well-known supporter of Kashmiri autonomists and Pakistan Amitabh Mattoo in this great institution of learning. He promoted some of the dubious characters on the campus. He won over a few disgruntled academicians by arranging for them foreign tours so that they could make common cause with him and tell the international community that the Kashmiri struggle against India was secular and that it was basically New Delhi that was responsible for the "alienation" of the people of the state. At least three Jammu University te...
| | Another conference on Kashmir, another attack on India | Things Going Out of Hand | | RUSTAM
JAMMU, June 20: One more anti-India seminar on Kashmir in Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir. One more attack on the Indian state. One more concerted attempt at vitiating religio-political environment in Jammu & Kashmir. One more attempt at hiding the facts and suppressing the truth that the trouble in Kashmir is the brainchild of the communalists and well-entrenched section of Kashmiri society.
The case in point is the two-day international conference on Kashmir, organized jointly by the Sajid Iqbal Foundation and India-Australia Institute, which is headed by former Jammu University Vice-Chancellor Amitabh Mattoo. The seminar was organized on June 18 and 19 at Sher...
| | Has Congress abandoned Rahul Gandhi? | Birthday Ignored | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, June 20: Have the Congress leaders and cadres abandoned AICC general Secretary and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi's son Rahul Gandhi? The answer appears in the affirmative when viewed in the light of the fact that there was hardly any Congress worker at 24 Akbar Road, New Delhi, on June 19 to celebrate 42nd birthday of Rahul Gandhi. 24 Akbar Road is the party office where people from across the country gather in thousands to register their presence on such "rare occasions" as birthday of Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul Gandhi. They assemble even if Sonia Gandhi or Rahul Gandhi is out of India. Rahul Gandhi normally celebrates his birthday outside India. He was also o...
