Debate on stone pelting takes a new turn
13 cases against CRPF men, culprits ‘untraced’

early time report Jammu, June 7: In 2010 the debate was about patronage and support of the stone pelters. The ruling National Conference (NC) and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) accused each other of manufacturing and patronizing the stone pelters. The former Director General of Police, Kuldeep Khoda accused the black marketers. And, in response to an RTI petition, the police say that CRPF men, JK Police personnel and members of other security agencies were also involved in stone pelting. The Jammu Kashmir police have indicted hundreds of CRPF men and personnel from other law enforcing agencies including their own men in stone pelting and other related offences in Kashmir since 2009. Dozens of FIRs have been registered against the uniformed men in various police stations. This was revealed by JK Police Headquarters in reply to a RTI application filed by a civil society member. The Police have registered as many 13 cases of stone pelting against Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel since 2009. early times report Jammu, June 7: Incidentally, Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (IDSA) had depicted J&K police as a villain in a 23-page study titled "Role and functioning of the CRPF" stating that the state police uses the paramilitary personnel as a shield and pass on the blame to them while committing human rights violations themselves. Asif Iqbal Naik Kishtwar, June 7: Security agencies feel that the LeT operatives, who often visited Mumbai-based Pak actress Laila Khan, had plans to target vital places in Mumbai, including airports and railway stations. Laila's Outlander was recovered by police from the town here last week. It was kept in a locked shop. Police sources said the LeT men had allegedly stayed at the Ohshiwara residence and Igatpuri farmhouse of the actress who was missing for the past one year.
